As an entrepreneur that runs a staffing firm, I am often in talks with clients in the IT, Software, and Telecom industries. I recently received a client email requesting a personal introduction between the clients firm and the Executive Director of Urban Ed. My client had an open position and thought an Urban Ed graduate might end up being a good fit. This was so rewarding on a number of levels. Mainly the facts that the client a) trusted the work being done in preparing talent, and b) the fact that one of UE's participants sat on the verge of a new career with a solid minority owned telecom firm in Washington, DC. This is a testament to the quality of reputation and results that have been cultivated within the community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

seeing its' growth over the years. As an original Board Member, it is of no surprise that having served for this long hasn't been without challenges. It has been a joy to see how much the organization has accomplished with limited funding!

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every month
