Urban Ed is a wonderful program that has given me the tools I need to take and pass the A+ Certiication exam. Urban Ed has small classes, hands-on taining, real workplace scenerios, test prep exams and a great staff really cares and wants you to succeed.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The online skillport training.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very friendly and focused on helping their students succeed.

My experience has been wonderful! I have been able learn and develop useful skills that I have been able to put to immediate use. The staff fosters a learning enviroment that has kept me engaged and wanting to learn more as fast as I can.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the people who have come in and received teaching and training have been able to apply this learning in workforce or join the workforce, which has a positive impact on the community and a positive effect on the overall economy.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the positive reinforcement and the nuturing needed to learn. And the facilities are clean, neat, comfortable and up to date. We have access to current technology right at our finger tips.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

sincere and concerned about my success.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do a lot more for those already involved by acquiring state of the art equipment. Also, a part of the 10 million bucks could be used for research and development.

Urabn Ed basically saved me from making one of the biggest mistakes of my life. I was in alot of trouble in 2004 and if it wasn't for Urban Ed accepting me into their program I have no clue what would have happened but I doubt if would have been positive. I started attending class and within a year I was Microsoft Office certified and working as a Administrative Assistant. That wasn't the end of my road with Urban Ed, enjoying my environment and new career path I continued to excel and became an IT Instructor. I've seen kids, friends, adults and even family come to Urban Eds prpogram and all you hear from participants is good things, how they love the program, how there gonna tell their friends about it and I agree with them all. Urban Ed is one of the best programs a disadvantaged person could come across. I simply looked at it as my way up without all the money and hassle and that's exactly where i've been on my way to since!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Getting participants to really focus on their goals and understand that the streets will still be their once they advance and make it.

One thing I'd also say is that...

I know that there are alot of people behind the success of Urban Ed (Board Members, Funders, ect.) but I feel that Roxanne should truly be acknowledged due to her endless days and nights, her ongoing help and extra care about her community!

Urban Ed is an excellent program, for the kids and adults. Joining this program was one of the best decisions that I have made. Urban Ed changes lives. Although my last experience was a little over a year ago, I still keep in touch. The program gave me the education, experience and confidence that I needed to really move forward in life. And for that I would like to extend my hand to say thanks for everything. To Ms. Williams and the rest of the Urban Ed staff keep up the good work.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the energy that they put towards educating thier participants for brighter futures and better employment.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

respectful to each other, the participants and guests.

I’ve been a board member at Urban Ed for over six years. During that time I have watched, listened and talked to students who have completed training programs at Urban Ed and moved on to better prospects. Each one of them has expressed gratitude to Urban Ed for improving their lives and providing them with education and accreditation in the information technology field that they ordinarily wouldn’t be able to afford. Urban Ed is a wonderful, essential non-profit providing an educational source to the community at no cost to them. I’m very proud to serve as a board member because of the work they've accomplished and the lives they’ve enriched.

I have personally seen individual lives transformed through their experience with Urban Ed. The organization provides them with the skills and confidence they did not know they were capable of. Some graduates give back to Urban Ed, like a young man named Sterling, who after completing the A+ Certification training, is now Microsoft A+ certified and teaching the program to new participants. The business community – IT professionals, journalists, foundations, national nonprofit leaders and government agencies – are consistently impressed with the level of professionalism and the results that Urban Ed provides. The organization is making a real difference in the lives of District residents and the greater community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It makes a tangible difference in transforming the lives of lower-income individuals and their families.

I have known Urban Ed's founder, Roxanne Williams, professionally for more than 10 years. Urban Ed was born out of Roxanne's passion, commitment, and vision. A main thrust of the organization is to provide opportunities for youth to develop technology skills and experience to prepare them for meaningful employment. Unlike many other programs that aim to boost employability and fight poverty, Urban Ed empowers its students to truly earn a living wage. I have recently joined Urban Ed's board.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

talking with Urban Ed students and seeing their enthusiasm about the program and their futures.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

committed and knowledgeable.

Urban Ed has given me a second start on life in the sense of having a career. These days and time is it almost a requirement to have a degree or some training above high school. If not for Urban Ed I could’ve never afforded to go to school because I’m a parent and worked 2 jobs, but with the flexible schedule and the one on one time with Ms William I was able to attend classes. This has made a great impact on my life, being able to go out and apply for a job that I actually would like to work for. I don’t just have to accept any job or pay because now I’m considered a professional. This has lifted my spirits immensely, even though I know I’m still considered the bottom of the barrel but if I didn’t have a certificate that I worked for it could be worse. Just the feeling that I worked for this all that studying and making class after work is really paying off. So I tell everyone I know that is having a hard time finding work or a career call Urban Ed. It was a pleasure and still is knowing Ms Williams and what Urban Ed has to offer.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

From home with family members that need pc work done, the first job interviews I went on, I was asked a lot of questions that I was prepared for.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

It was like going to a second home, that I got respect, encouragement, and a network of individuals that was a tight knit group. She had professionals come in and talk about their experiences and career expectations.

Courteous, kind, helpful, and genuine.

Ways to make it better...

BIGGER or more space whinch has already happened.
