Mission: The mission of united way of miami dade is to build community by helping people care for one another. United way brings people and institutions together to improve the education, financial stability and health of our community and its residents.
Programs: *the united way center for excellence in early education, an innovative teaching and training initiative dedicated to elevating the quality of early care and education in miami-dade and beyond, provided 561 professional learning sessions that were attended by more than 3,550 participants - including teachers and directors from early care and education programs around the country *32,306 children attended after-school programs that enabled them to improve academic skills and avoid risky behaviors
*50,000 people received emergency food and shelter assistance through a federal program managed by united way *416 people avoided homelessness through direct financial assistance and supportive services like counseling and basic financial planning *3,318 individuals and families received counseling that will enable them to improve their financial stability and achieve their goals *assisted miami-dade taxpayers receive more than $11. 3 million in tax refunds and earned income tax credits of $4. 1million
health - 47,935 individuals saved $2. 3 million on prescription drugs through united ways partnership with familywize. 11,154 older adults were provided with nutritious meals.
