My youngest son first received services from UCP 3 years ago. A developmental therapist came to our home once a week. I was impressed right away by how she was able to get my son to open up and actually try things (which were cleverly disguised as fun!). Eventually, my son started attending the inclusive preschool program at UCP's Capital Area Children's Center. A shy boy with speech delay graduated the program to enter kindergarten with great social skills and is up to speed with the other kids and beyond! We are so proud of him and so thankful to UCP! Both my sons have benefited from the Family Services activities, such as the Fall Fun Fair and Dance Night.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the positive results I have seen in my son and the enjoyment my family received from the programs.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

get the word out about the services! I heard about UCP through Early Intervention services.

UCP has helped me in a variety of ways for more than a decade. They have helped with attendant care services, finding assistive technology and providing training to use it, and support for me as I work toward starting my own business. The people working for them have been great and make an extra effort.

I receive sevrices through the Geriatric Care Management aservices at UCP. This service has been wonderful. Sheila handles all my medical bills, checking with all insurances to ensure payments have been correctly billed. Without this service I would probably end up paying bills that I did not need to. She also has been assisting me to go through the process to get ready to be placed on the kidney transplant list. UCP provides outstanding services for all ages and all disabilities.

I've volunteered on UCP's Magic Night committee. Here I've gained access to what UCP stands for and their mission to helping others. The staff behind UCP is amazing and believes strongly in their mission. It is a group of people, who commit themselves day and night, to completing their goals and becoming an even better organization.

I've experienced seeing others thrive from this organization and the good they bring to everyday lives of children and adults. From kids having a speech disability and learning how to overcome that disability to adults struggling with everyday chores, UCP is there to help them learn how to best deal with these obstacles; allowing them to become an even better individual.

I would offer them more money so they could make even more changes that would help others succeed. From what I've seen there are programs for kids and teenagers, but once these kids reach a certain age the programs end. It would be wonderful if there was a way for these programs to continue into their early adulthood and thereafter.

As the mom of a disabled child who was struggling to have my child's needs met with my school district, I contacted UCP for help. They provided me with freee advocacy help and I was able to get the services my son needed as a result! They were professional and supportive.

UCP Central PA offers services to all ages and levels of special needs. I am not only a board member, but both my children attended UCP's Inclusive daycare. This experience allowed my children not to differentiate or judge those with special needs and taught them acceptance of all. I also needed early invention when our son had meningitis. UCP tested our son for developmental delays so we could work with him to improve his abilities that were affected. UCP is here to help with anything from early childhood delays to providing housing to adults with special needs to give them the opportunities to live a fulfilling life. UCP has touched the lives of many people in our community in a positive way and continues to provide quality service to anyone in need.

When my daughter attended the inclusive daycare there was a boy in her infant room who could not walk, talk or feed himself and the parents were given little hope from doctors for improvement i saw this boy improve over the years he was able to feed himself and had learned to speak several words. The most moment us achievement was at their preschool graduation when he came onto the stage with a walker and walked to receive his diploma. There was not a dry eye in the house.

The most difficult task with UCP Central PA is educating the public so that everyone knows that they help with all needs not only cerebral palsy. Every person who volunteers, works for or has received services from UCP has accepted this challenge and continues to promote the depth of this organization.

UCP Central PA offers a wonderful variety of services that have benefited both of my children with autism. Sibshops is my 12 year olds favorite activity and he has been attending for 6 years. Their facility is beautiful and the family support service staff goes above and beyond to help their clients and families.

I am a volunteer for the organization's annual golf fundraiser. As a member of the committee I help plan the details of the event and solicit for donations for the silent auction. I have donated goods and services to the annual golf and black tie fundraisers. UCP Central PA provides invaluable services to its community and I am proud to be a small part of helping make that happen. The organization was very understanding and flexible when I went through a career change and my availability for meetings changed.
