TRAVIS R ROY SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST FUND
Invite reviews
The Travis R. roy Sudden Cardiac Arrest Fund is an excellent program. Unfortunately it is a result of the death of Travis R. Roy, a young 8th grader who dies of SCA while at school. His school was NOT equipped with an Automatic External Defibrillator, which may have saved his life.
Now, in his memory, his parents have set up this fund to raise awaremenss, and monies, to donate AED to local schools, so no other family has to experience the grief of losing a child to SCA.

As a pediatrician, educator and CPR instructor I consider the Travis R. Roy Sudden Cardiac Arrest Fund to be a major factor in bringing awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in children to the public. Further, with their successful program in providing AEDs to schools they have lowered the risk of sudden death not only to children but to the adult faculty and staff as well as adult visitors to schools.

I've known Bob Roy the founder for many years and his dedication to the Travis Roy Fund in honor of his son who passed away unexpectedly at a young age. I also met Travis who had a disability similar to my daughter and as such Bob is no stranger to non-profits. I've no doubt that the money donated is spent wisely and judiciously to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in children.

The Travis Fund fills a niche in the need for AED placement namely, the school system. Many if not most of the deaths among young athetes and children with undiagnosed heart defects are preventable with defibrillation. The dedication, perseverance and effectivenss of the founders of the Travis fund are worthy of support. Philip J. Goscienski, M.D., FAAP, CPR Instructor, American Red Cross

Although Oak Grove Center for Education Treatment & the Arts serves 160 children and youth on a school day, and 76 live on campus in our residential programs, we did not have an AED. Thanks to the generosity and vision of Bob Roy, founder of the Travis Roy Sudden Cardiac Arrest Fund, this need was beautifully supplied. Many individuals would have been so completely grief stricken with the magnitude of their loss yet the Roy family are true heroes in that they wanted to prevent other children from suffering from sudden cardiac arrest. Through their vision, compassion and leadership many other schools including Oak Grove have been equipped with automatic defibrillators. We are very grateful for their leadership, the impact they are making in our community and the magnificent manner in which they honor their son's legacy. I wholeheartedly recommend this nonprofit as a great organization to support. Thank you for literally saving lives! Tammy Wilson, CEO

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
I have enjoyed meeting Bob Roy, being educated about how preventable sudden cardiac arrest is IF a school has an automatic defibrillator and has staff trained to effectively intervene as well as experiencing Bob's generosity and vision first hand!
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
wonderful, compassionate, visionary and truly dedicated to the health, safety, and well being of the children and youth in our community
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
equip even more schools with defibrillators, training, early intervention.
Ways to make it better...
My experience was wonderful and would only have been better had I known about the Foundation sooner.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
being able to publicize what they do, who they serve and the roots of their foundation to a larger audience
One thing I'd also say is that...
Bob Roy and is family are inspirational leaders, we are fortunate to have them in our community. Thank you for making a difference and starting a legacy!
