I have volunteered with Through the Roof mostly helping the administrative staff, and also participated in some of the Fellowship of Friends social events. This really is a caring organization who want to help people affected by disability and share the love of Jesus with them, to spread the Gospel message to those who haven't heard, and to strengthen believers to live their faith. I have enjoyed hearing the inspirational results of their local and international outreach. And I have been blessed by serving in this ministry.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

meeting people affected by disability and seeing them as people, benefited from prayers and encouragement of the staff in a time of my own medical crisis, saw the blessing a friend received from Devotional materials sent to her by this organization when she was discouraged with severe health problems.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I'm not sure what changes I would make. That is not my area of skill, but I would want more people to get involved so the blessings can be multiplied.

It was such an incredible experience to complete the Heart Force Bible study written by Shanda Gobeli with Through the Roof, Strength of Heart Ministry. This manual has helped me to focus on how God can use my trials with disability to take hope to others. After reading the manual I went and visited people with disabilities in a nursing home and shared with them that God still has a plan for their life. I hope to continue to go and join Through the Roof in their visitation ministry.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Helping people with disabilities in a nursing home find meaning and purpose.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

encourage them as much as they encourage others.

Through the Roof Ministries has a loaner program for walkers, canes, crutches and wheelchairs in NE Ohio. This can really help people out that cannot otherwise afford or get what they need.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Obtaining a needed loaner wheelchair.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Have more hours for people to come when they need equipment.

Heart Force is a discipleship Bible study. The study helps people with disabilities or those who have experienced hardship to use their circumstances to share hope with others. I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to others.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

to use the Heart Force material to provide encouragement to people in nursing homes and with people who have a disability.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

make more people aware of this resource for people with disabilities.

For many years I have been a part of the A Place to Belong support group that Through the Roof sponsors. We meet 2X each month and share struggles and times of success. It is so nice to meet others with physical disabilities that have similar circumstances and we can laugh and cry together.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Refreshment and renewal from everyday struggles living with a disability.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Help others to know about the programs Through the Roof Ministries sponsors.

Through the Roof Ministries collects, repairs and delivers mobility equipment, like wheelchairs and walkers, to Haiti and Central America. Tonight I helped them load a truck for Haiti. God says we should love our neighbor as our self and they are a great example of this!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Meeting the needs of those with disabilities in developing countries and here in the US.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find someone to donate more warehouse space in NE Ohio.

Often parents feel turned away by the church because they do not have a class for their child with a disability. After searching many churches and feeling hopeless we went to a church were Through the Roof Ministries (TTRM) leads the disability ministry. Our son fit in so well in the class and the teachers showed him love and understood his needs. They made it possible for our family to go to church and each of us to be refreshed to face another difficult week of therapy, doctor appointments and special ed classes... TTRM offers workshops for the Sunday school teachers and they provide physical and spiritual support for the teachers and families.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their compassionate care and helping the local church meet the need of families with a child with a disability.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

find volunteers to serve in local church disability ministries so more families and people with disabilities would have a place of respite in the church.

Through the Roof Ministries has a baby bundle outreach. Picture a young mother who just received the news her newborn infant has a disability. With no money, no resources, and no help, hope seems a world away. And then the door opens and in walks someone with a brightly wrapped “baby bundle” filled with special gifts to help care for that new life. But most importantly, the bundle opens the door for the gospel of Jesus to be shared and for the family to be connected to a local church.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Finding unique ways to reach out and encourage people with disabilities.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

share more with others so they would have more volunteers to make an even bigger impact in the life of those with disabilities.

I have volunteered with Through the Roof in Central America. They have done so much to help the people with disabilities to be recognized and to get wheelchairs and a Bible. They have worked with us to build ramps into schools and churches. People are so grateful.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

helping people in Central America they give so we can live better lives.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

take more people on a mission trip.

I attend a Through the Roof support group for people with physical disabilities. We meet 2 X a month and share trials and triumphs and also do Bible studies. We have been meeting for many years and this is a real encouragement for each of us...especially when new people come.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

gaining greater confidence in myself and also to look outside of my circumstances and to find hope.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

maybe have new speakers come to the support group.
