The concept of TYPF is to provide young people the opportunity to take time out to do just this. For who knows, your voice could change things.
Results: # TYPF has trained over 5,000 young people to set up over 200 projects on issues that young people are passionate about, reaching out to youth led groups in India, South and South East Asia as well as Internationally. # Our programmes have reached out to over 3,00,000 youth in Delhi and to numerous youth across the country. Pilot projects have run from Mumbai, Pune and Chhattisgarh. # We were invited to feature our work by Ex president Bill Clinton at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2008. # TYPF has worked with over 30 schools in Delhi and Haryana, conducting workshops on understanding Life Skills, Mental Health and Child Rights with over 6,000 adolescents. # We have made a focussed effort at developing youth led voices in cities, encouraging young people to be pro active citizens and dialogue with the government. # In 2009, our Founder Ishita Chaudhry was invited to address a US Congressional Briefing at Capitol Hill on the need for investing in young people’s sexual reproductive health and rights in South and South East India. # The Government of Nagaland in India invited The YP Foundation’s staff to train their civil officers on how to integrate a youth friendly government response to youth interventions on HIV & AIDS. # UNICEF and UNDP worked with The YP Foundation as part its internal staff training programme ‘Changing Gears’, where young staff conducted training sessions with UN officials on developing youth friendly communication. # Last year, in 2008, we helped over 4,000 young people in India register to vote in the General Elections. This year, we are taking that forward by helping young people understand the Right to Information Act in India, giving them tools by which they can understand the system and help work with it, to develop accountability.

1. Have been associated with the Youth Parliament for the past 5 years as a trainer and a guide. 2. Have been impressed with the committment, dedication and hard work which YP indulges in for its programs. 3. YP is a youth based organization and reaches out to the youth in India across borders. 4. It needs more stable staff rather than volunteers who ofcourse are valuable in terms of their contribution to society, but in terms of sustainability needs to be more self sustaining.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

trainings, facilitation groups, youth clubs, schools and I think they have the knack of reaching out to the youth very well. They are role models for the youth in every way.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that they are a committed and hardworking group with a focus on social issues.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely knowledgable and capable, very enthusiastic and committed.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world...! In its own capacity! It would reach out to the unreachable and be able to work more dynamically for street children, women and substance users in India.

I approached the Founder of YP Foundation for mentoring support as I too am a part of a non-profit named Grassroutes that aims at initiating urban youth into social action. I received contacts and leads for possible collaborations as well as got to hear about YP’s experiences, challenges faced and ideas as well as the journey of the YP team that added value to me and my venture. There was openness in sharing ideas and suggestions from the organization as a whole and they also had an expertise in working with young people and running a youth led start up. Also, their model is efficient and innovatively run and gives other organizations ideas and space to learn from.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Energetic and passionate about the work they do. It was nice to meet a senior management team filled with young people. YP gives the space to young people to use their strengths that would otherwise go unnoticed in most other organizations.

I was 18, wanting to explore and make a difference. Just break free of the quiet girl that I had been all the years of my school life. It was I don't know know how but I ended up being part of YP. Unsure of myself and excited at new beginnings I went with the flow. And what unfolded was a wonderful year of learning, growing, bonding, crying and in the end being part of something more than you and more than us. even if meant just knowing for one's self!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

in its early years, I saw it grow from each strength and each failure.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

my work and the people!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

just fun, bright, creative people oozing with energy.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

start a revolution!

GREAT! for the first time ever i found a place where people i fitted in..mind you all i'm not a "fit-in" person at all,I LOVED THE WHOLE mechanism by which it conducted itself..soo youthful, where you have coke & chips at staff meetings, girls in minis(even if you are a girl you enjoy such visual treasures).Coming onto what it did to me-->i changed my perspective about "south delhi" whoever thinks these people are __..blah blah whatever, is NOT TRUE actually its among these that i found people showing a reflection of "me" ,a crowd that thought like me,shared my passion,my interest..i will always cherish my days spent in it..:)

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

awesome! willing to make you comfortable

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

I joined the organization because it was a youth run and led initiative. It was really uplifting to see so many other young people like me doing something they cared for passionately. I worked with a project called VOICES, in The YP Foundation-VOICES conducts facilitative workshops with school students on issues of identity, stereotypes, substance use, body esteem etc. I really like the project because when I was in school I felt the need for a project like this, something which would allow me to speak freely about these sensitive issues. It also helped me to be more open-minded and empathetic. Besides VOICES, The YP Foundation has some great projects, working in a huge number of areas. It is a unique organization that is run solely by the passion in people. Working for it really made me feel like I made a little difference somewhere.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

in my overall development. Yes, the project VOICES is for school children but the training volunteers get really makes a difference to us. My communication skills shot up, I was open to more perspectives, I came to terms with the politics of these issues.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The enthusiasm and the passion. It is such a refreshing and charged environment. It makes you want to do something and put in a little more!

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

From all over the place! Anyone and everyone is allowed to join! It really helped me connect with a lot of college students that I would have never got the chance to otherwise :)

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Work on issues and areas that are completely ignored and unobserved! Wow, the scope would be tremendous!

Its a great organisation to work with especially starting in college.have been with the organisation since its inception, and worked with it thru a variety of projects.I then moved on to train those in the YP and continue to be a supported when needed tho not as actively as before.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

is the fact that i got to meet people from a variety of backgrounds- both young and old. It also gave me an insight into some of the issues that the youth of today face and how they can be dealt with.
