The Youth Parliament has shown astounding growth since the time I worked with it; not only has it branched out in terms of the types of projects undertaken, but there has been a an exponential increase in the creative perspectives, innovative energies, and courageous approaches whilst remaining true to the essence with which it started up. It was a true honor for me to work with the YP foundation, and hopefully will get the opportunity to do so again in the future.

I started working with this organisation this year only and I have enjoyed the time spent here- and also did the most constructive thing i could ever have i.e. helping others without any ulterior motive. And this gives a wonderful sense of bing!

In my many years of experience in the development sector I have never come across an organization as good and unique as Youth Parliament. my long association with Youth Parliament I have seen them do excellent work, reaching out to the youth quite rapidly and making a difference, quite effectively. As an organization they have grown and evolved extremely well. Any professional organization would envy their learning curve. In fact, I have learnt from them probably more than they have learnt from me. The core organization values and principles have remained consistent. Their unwavering spirit and passion not only inspire the youth but equally all age groups who get attached with them. Well, what else can i say except they are awesome and they truely Rock!

I have gained a tremendous amount of awareness about topics like HIV/Aids, human rights, sexuality and etc. I am a very reserved person, very shy to say what i feel but the YP foundation has helped me in so many ways to open up and be confident about myself.

I have met with the founder members of this organization. They have great passion and energy level to think and care about youth-development. They always follow the less trodden path and set examples.

A lot of people think of YP as an "elitist" organization. What they don't understand is that upper middle class youngsters are also major stakeholders and that they to don't have a space where they can work on issues that concern them. Some people also feel YP doesn't do "grassroots" work..; seldom do they understand what "grassroots" work even means! Rural India might have a lot of issues and problems that need to be addresses no doubt, but what happens to the people in cities who can't really go to remote villages and help out? Are their problems and concerns less important? Aren't they stakeholders as well? YP is thus an organization with a difference. It doesn't claim to go to villages and work. It admits that their target audience is the cities. It is the kids who go to good schools. Its objective is social change yes, but more importantly, its "developing potential in young people". It helps develop skills of young people to set up their own projects and run them the way they want to, following a human rights based approach.

As a volunteer the yp to me means uninhibited interactive sessions. It is the meeting of like minded people from varied fields and it gives a sense of belonging to everyone who's involved with it.the atmosphere here is always charged with excitement and if you have the passion to learn and work the yp gives an equal oppurtunity to one and all.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

There is a conscious and active effort to reduce the boundaries and increase the teamwork between staff and volunteers. Each individual encourages and respects the contributions of others. Volunteers are given many options and opportunities for sharing their time and skills and are free to make choices. The ever helpful and encouraging staff and the ever involved volunteers ensure enthusiastic participation of new entrants.

My experience with YP has been short, but very satisfying for the humanitarian in me.Im getting to do all the things i always wanted to do in ways i didn't imagine i could.I get to exercise my talents and skills AND give another human(who hasn't been as lucky as me in matters of the comforts in life) a reason to smile. I feel proud to be of some help.
