The Type 1 diabetes network and particularly the forum, is the place I go to hear honest and personal experiences about Type 1 diabetes. I always come away from the site having learned something new, whether it be a new glucometer on the market or a different way of handling a type 1 diabetic 'problem'. What makes this site unique is that fact there are no hidden motives; they are type 1 diabetics themselves that are there to listen and share their real and personal experiences in the forum. They also provide up to date and relevant information about Type 1 diabetes.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my own life. Particularly when first choosing an insulin pump. It was great to compare everyone's own experiences and then make a more informed decision for myself.

The T1DN provides a friendly and informative environment where people are encouraged to share information and discuss a wide variety of issues, ask questions, share experiences and talk about anything they wish to, relating to living with diabetes. Its a great place to turn to when I'm seeking advice, reassurance or a just place to vent! It has truely changed my life for the better and has had a tangible, positive impact on my health.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

... the way it has had a positive impact on my knowledge and confidence and therefore my health.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

like to see them receive more financial support to assist with the enourmous workload currently undertaken by volunteers.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The way it has positively impacted upon my health and the way it has helped me to better cope with living with Type 1.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Very well informed, polite and friendly.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Help thousands more people like me. It could run new programs aimed at supporting those of us struggling to cope with living with T1.

Ways to make it better...

I had more time to read through the thousands of posts on the Forum!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The need for volunteers to undertake the large amount of work involved in running the organisation.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

T1DN is the only credible organisation helping people to live with type 1 diabetes (JDRF are great but they do another job, ie finding a cure). T1DN really helps to normalise the experience of living with diabetes and offers a wealth of information.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Getting a lot of info on diabetes and assisting me to get an insulin pump-the best decision I've ever made for my health.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find ways to extend its resources.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Learning that I'm not the only one who struggles but just gets on with diabetes.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Great (virtual).

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Achieve many of the things on its list of key issues to make life better for people with type 1 diabetes. Also ensuring that more people heard about them.

Ways to make it better...

It had been easier to find them and I'd done so earlier.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

It's very difficult for a small org to make its voice heard over the d associations in each state who disempower and stigmatise ALL diabetics with poor PR and badly done education.

One thing I'd also say is that...

For what seems to be a micro-charity they seem to punch above their weight in type 1 land in Australia. Thank heavens somebody does!

As a diabetes health professional and someone living with the condition, there are times I refer people to this website. My only concern is that at times the overall feeling of the website can be negative. Advice provided is usually experiential-based, however at times does move into the clinical realms which I find problematic. As a forum of people sharing their diabetes experieces, I would say this is a good website.

I came across the Type 1 Diabetes Network when my 10yr old son was diagnosed with diabetes last year. I have found the forum site MuntedPancreas to be an invaluable source of information & support.

This site is home to the Reality Check forum which is an online community aimed at people with Type 1 Diabetes. Anything and everything related to D is discussed here. You can have a grumble or a rant about D, you can find out about the latest BGM's and Pumps, you can share in others success is manageing various aspects of D and you can celebrate your own. Got a problem you can't find a solution to? Post it on the forum, there is bound to be someone in the same situation!

This has been a terrific site to read about other peoples REAL experiences with Type 1 as it can often be the case that you do not personally know others with this condition. This site has been extremely informative for me as no matter what Type 1 throws at you (be it good, bad, ugly, angry or funny) there is always another T1 that has experienced the same or similiar and can share their views or at the very least, sympathise. Real life experiences with 'real' Type 1s, not with well meaning but oft misinformed others.

The Type 1 Diabetes Network is an amazing resource for people who are affected by Type One Diabetes and their family and friends. Its is an excellent community to be a part of.

The Type 1 Diabetes Network provides online information and support to people who are affected by Type 1 Diabetes - the people themselves who have the condition, the partners and the parents. I've been a member of the online forum for about five years now and find it an incredible support. Living with Type 1 Diabetes is not easy - and its a relief to meet up with people who actually understand what this condition is about. The forum is well moderated and friendly - a real "community". The Type 1 Diabetes Network is a huge support to me and many others.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've had T1D for 20 years, and struggled with it for years. I had not met another person with Type 1 diabetes for 15 years - so I felt very alone. I love sharing experiences with others who "get" what living with T1D is about.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The ability to share my experiences with others, and hear how others manage and live with T1D

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely helpful and generous with their support and information.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the world for Type 1's and their families... or at least put some of that towards a cure.
