I have been involved with yoga in our community for over 15 yrs. and have personally seen it's many benefits. I have also been involved with the Sean O'Shea Foundation for many years and have seen it's positive impact on the youth of our community as well as their families. Recently we ( the SOSF) have been working with the cancer patients at Rady Childrens Hospital and again I have personally witnessed the positive results in the children and again their families. I am happy to be involved with both organizations and feel a great need to continue and expand these programs. The SOSF helps many members of our community and I feel as a non-profit org. they are sincere and committed to a wonderful cause and deserve all the support available to this type of program.

I have been involved with the Sean O'shea Foundation for three years and a friend of the O'shea family for most of my life. The organization is true to its purpose to reach out to underprivileged children and provide life changing guidance through yoga and nutrition. The people involved are some of the most compassionate and caring that I have known. It is only fitting that Sean's life and passion for caring for others would be carried on in this way. This organization has a unique mission to provide yoga and nutrition to children giving them education and practical skills to impact the rest of their lives. Thank you to Sean, the whole O'shea family and those involved in the foundation for being models of what love is all about.

Having been an Elementary School Teacher in San Diego County, I saw a huge need for making Yoga accessible to our youth, so I started offering yoga during and after school . Fortunately, I was able to join the Sean O'Shea Foundation and teach six week and longer FREE Yoga Programs to at-risk youth in San Diego County! The light and inspiration in the eyes of the students I was teaching, reminded me of the Divine presence I used to see shining in Sean's eyes. Yoga teaches us that "we are all connected". so I see how Sean's mission is still be fulfilled! If you want to know what it is to Love in an Infinite way, get to know Sean's family, through the Sean O'Shea Foundation. They reflect, embody, and share Yoga in a way that penetrates the heart and calls you to create deeply fulfilling contributions. Thank You for your support! The Sean O'Shea Foundation teaches health and wellness to children and teens. In a time filled with school cutbacks, the SOS Foundation provides at risk kids with a different kind of activity- YOGA. I have taught in the program and the students' repsonses are overwelmingly positive. Plus, there is a nutrition element that many of the kids would otherwise not be taught. The O'Shea family and friends have worked so hard the last few years to create a great curriculum.

Review from Guidestar

This organization provides free yoga instruction to at-risk & disadvantaged youths. To those unfamiliar with yoga, this may sound like a waste of time & money. However, they've proven that yoga can be quite an effective means of anger & stress management for kids who lead very stressful lives and often don't have any other means to deal with their problems. The Sean O'Shea Foundation makes every dollar count and has almost no overhead costs, making it a highly efficient and deserving charity.

The Sean O'Shea Foundation is continuing to bring its FREE 7-week yoga and nutrition program to under-served schools. There is actually a waiting list now because so many schools have re-applied for this program and kids love it! In addition, SOSF is making an effort to reach the most challenging students - those in last-resort "court" mandated schools, special ed, homeless youth. This fall, SOSF began working with Rady's Childrens Hospital to bring yoga to children undergoing treatment for cancer and to their caregivers. All donations go directly to pay for these programs. This is an all-volunteer non-profit with the exception of the yoga teachers who receive payment for the classes they teach.

I have been teaching yoga to adults for ten years, and have witnessed yoga's power to change lives for the better - physically and mentally. The Sean O'Shea Foundation is doing a wonderful job of taking yoga into classrooms with a program geared to kids from 11-18. It makes yoga fun for them, teaches them sound nutritional principles, and increases their awareness of environmental challenges and how they can become "greener". Also of note is that the schools served by the foundation have significant numbers of Title I students, and not a single school has had to pay a penny for the 7-week program.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have seen positive behavioral changes in children over the 7-week span of the program, and have had many positive comments from teachers who subsequently worked with these kids.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would bring the Sean O'Shea Foundation program into more schools, and also develop a training program for school teachers who would like to incorporate yoga in to their classroom.

In Southern California, as in much of the rest of the country, yoga has become over the last decade a popular way to exercise. Perhaps more so here than anywhere else, though, yoga is a part of the community and not merely a form of exercise. When I learned of the Sean O'Shea Foundation's work introducing yoga to at-risk and low-income middle and high-school students, I quickly became enthralled at how many kids it has reached in such a short time. Middle school and high school can be terrifying places for kids, especially those that come from broken families or communities also plagued by drugs and violence. Perhaps no other activity can strengthen a vulnerable child's resolve and boost confidence like yoga. The Sean O'Shea Foundation is my non-profit of choice. A friend of mine, a popular yoga teacher, organized a donation yoga class on the weekend, a great, fun way to raise funds for a charity that I truly believe, will save many children from the bleakness that affect all low-income communities.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

talking to kids who have gone through the program who have told me that the Foundation has tremendously helped them deal with stress!

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Hire more teachers and grow it even more quickly.

The Sean O'Shea Foundation has inspired so many individuals in our community. This Foundation has been inspired from a beautiful, compassionate, loving, remarkable soul that we lost in a tragic accident 4 years ago. Since Sean's death we have touched more than 2,000 youth in our community and many, many adults. I remember asking a student what does the Sean O'Shea Foundation mean to you? She replied back that she now feels she can handle her temper at home, she is more patient with her mom, dad and siblings. She feels that she can take deep breaths before a text to help her with her anxiety. And that being part of the Foundation after school session has motivated her to learn more about exercise and what she eats. I was so impressed with that response! And just to think we have touched more than 2,000 students.

One of the greatest gifts to give to children is teaching them that of empowerment. The Sean O' Shea Foundation fulfills this and even more. It far exceeds just yoga and nutrition, for it taps into a place in the child that they did not know was there before. It gives them strength of spirit and calmness of mind which transfers beautifully off the mat to home, school and community. It has been a pleasure to work with the founders as they continue to carry on Sean's spirit of compassionate strength.

Not make any. From my experiences, everything is done in a very organized manner.
