I've worked in the medical field for 26 years as an office manager for Dr. Irving A. Ratner, Pediatric Surgeon. What a privilege that was to work for such a respected, great physician. Since his passing, The Patient Institute was founded in his memory. He was the first Pediatric Surgeon to practice in South Texas and I will always admire the love and dedication he had for his hard work and always putting the patient first. Over the years, I have learned so much about the difficulties patients and their families face with the healthcare system. The Patient Institute is an excellent resource in guiding patients and their families through the healthcare system.

The Patient Institute does a terrific job educating the public on dealing with the healthcare system. Their programs are informative and very helpful. They've enabled Bexar county residents determine which physicians are accepting new medicare patients.

Helping people find a primary care physician. Teaching how to talk to your doctor. Providing the tools to navigate problems and visits to the doctor's office, a hospital stay, or an ER visit. These are only a few ways the Patient Institute helps individuals find their way through the complicated health care system. And new doctors, medical students and other health professionals also benefit through Patient Institute train the trainer programs that will ultitmately help and empower patients. We are lucky to have such a great non-profit organization in Bexar county!

The Patient Institute's mission of empowering patients and their caregivers to successfully navigate the healthcare system is very much needed. This nonprofit public charity educates patients and their caregivers on just this through programs throughout the community. It also develops tools that allow patients to navigate the healthcare system with more ease. From the professional caregiver side, The Patient Institute provides scholarships to students in the healthcare professions who have demonstrated an interest in empowering patients. This organization is continually looking for new ways to achieve its mission and increase its impact on this community, in which each and every one of us finds ourselves.

The Patient Institute is continuously fulfilling its mission to help patients and caregivers navigate the healthcare system. We all know what a daunting task this can be sometimes, and it's wonderful to have an organization so dedicated to this purpose. The impact is widespread, and so many people have benefited from the work being done by this organization.

I have been so impressed with the way that the Patient Institute has carefully determined the need in our Community and has worked with other community leaders to target the greatest need. They have touched so many people with their workshops and presentations. And the database of Doctors accepting new patients has filled a neede void in the San Antonio community.
