This organization finds a million-and-one ways to bring happiness, joy, and solidarity to the young people they work with. Every time I see a picture of an event, I see a sea of smiles. It takes special people to do this work. The Next Step staff are the real deal.

Next Step is doing a hard job, but you would never know it from the joy and energy they bring to it. It takes a special group of people to make a program so full of life and fun for so many young people.

I work in a nearby office. I became a donor because I watched them work. They are
special. Full of imagination, style and compassion. They do the serious work as well as anyone else. But, it is with the kids and the programs they put together, that they really shine. What other group do you know that has a huge inflatable gorilla as a mascot??

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I walk by their office every day. They have pictures, and art work, and posters, and joyful decorations all over their walls. Their presence in the building, and in the world, makes me smile and have hope.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

give them more money so they could expand.

From the conception of Next Step I have observed Bill Kubicek bring together a viable program for young adults with life threatening illness .
The seasoned and creative staff is dedicated to promote and accomplish the goals of Next Step. The reviews of the retreats and activities of Next Step
held in CT, MA and TX have been rave...and they are requested to return year after year. I know that the board of Next step is very supportive, progressive and strong. I am proud to be able to say "I knew about Next Step when it was learning to walk."

Having worked with children with life threatening illnesses for many years, I was thrilled when Next Step came on the scene. Finally an organization that recognizes that challenges stay with young people into adulthood! They need the support all the more as they work to achieve meaningful and independent lives. As a donor, I am always informed about what my dollars are actually doing. I have received calls from Board members and newsletters and emails full of real stories and indications of Next Step's growth and evolution. I live on the West Coast and tend to fund locally, but Next Step is such a standout organization in its mission and passionate leadership that I made an exception. I'm so glad I did!

We have interacted for years with Bill Kubicek and support his organization's wonderful work with teens and young adults with life-threatening diseases. Without his support, these teens would not receive the attention or services they so desperately need. We give him high recommendations for his work and the efforts of the entire organization.

I witnessed the vision for Next Step evolving more than a decade ago, as Founder Bill Kubicek wrestled with how to continue serving a population of seriously ill children who were fast becoming young adults. We worked together at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. His dream has become a healing reality for thousands of teens and young adults battling serious illness. Today, Bill and his staff are a resource for this population of young people throughout the country - both in service and in education for the care providers. I am deeply moved and inspired by Next Step's authentic quest to improve lives by creating healing communities and teaching concrete and valuable life skills. They have my lifelong support.
