The Mission of The Mentoring Network, Inc. is to provide school-based, direct-to-youth mentoring that will improve life outcomes for vulnerable and disengaged children by developing resilience skills, supporting the development of personal strengths, and increasing self-sufficiency.
77% of the kids who are being actively mentored show improvement in behavior. 85% become more caring. 86% grow in friendship building skills. 73% of our actively mentored kids improve their grades. My wife and I are financial supporters of the nonprofit The Mentoring Network Inc. This organization has done a remarkable service to our area by organizing volunteer mentors to spend an hour or so each week with a student from one of several local rural school districts. The students are referred by the school counselors because of a variety of social and academic needs.
The program has been very successful at furnishing the student with an interested friend to help the student keep an interest in school and relationships. The graduation rate of the mentored students is very high and the need for legal interaction is very rare in this group.
The program is run with minimal staff but with great success. This is money well spent!
