We have provided significant funding for the following programs. Without our support, these programs would not exist today. Our primary grantee is the mariposa foundation in cabarete dominican republic. We have funded this organization since our inception in 2009. To date this program in the dominican republic has been able to serve the needs of more than 100 girls living in poverty and their families. The mariposa foundation has daily programs that include academic tutoring, sports, art, theatre, health, environmental education and more. The program has expanded from serving just 15 girls at the beginning of 2010 to 100 in 2012. (continued on schedule o)our support has fully funded six main initiatives - academic enrichment, community engagement, experiential learning, health and wellness, international awareness and summer programs. We work with the international community especially students to fulfill our mission. In 2012 we funded the purchase of a 5,000 square meter piece of property to transform an abandoned school into the brand new mariposa center for girls. Our support of the mariposa foundation has also allowed them to partner with ceprosh, local public schools and host community events. Our work with the mariposa foundation has directly affected more than 3,000 people.

Reviews for The Mariposa DR Foundation
I learned about the Mariposa Foundation on my second visit to the Dominican Republic. By chance I met Tricia and Jessica after I read about the foundation in a local publication. Their story about the work they were doing was so compelling that I asked if I could visit the modest building where they hold some of their activities and meet some of their girls. As an lifelong educator and advocate for at risk youth, I was profoundly impacted by the level of the commitment of the staff and the volunteers. It was amazing to me how they did so much with so little! I was so impressed by the work being done by the Mariposa Foundation that I when I returned to my home town I repeatedly told my friends, family, and anyone who would listen about the foundation. I also encouraged them to donate money and to send supplies. I am always thrilled to hear about the work of the Mariposa Foundation because it reinforces to me what is possible through passion, hard work, and courage. They are building a model that can be replicated in other countries where they realize that educating and developing girls and young women has a direct and positive impact on the entire community.
