Since 2001 The LIfespan Foundation dba Grants to You has been providing volunteer beginners with very low cost classes in grants research and writing so that they could assist their favorite, local nonprofit agency. The results are amazing...699 graduates (43% senior citizens, 13% students), 95 grants won valued at $1,188,930.
Further 5 new online class options have been added for those unable to take a live class.
Grants To You has achieved significat results at a minimal cost. A live class costs only $330 to provide and the projected results are $14,000 based on an average of $1,000 per graduate. Now that is what I call a return on investment.
We are having challenges however. Our chapters are having difficutly with their start up and often leave us without any results. Therefore, we are seeking volunteers to serve as mentors/coaches to each chapter and stay in communication with them untll they get their chapter off the ground.
Grants To You has been honored on numerous occasions by Wells Fargo Community Partners and Foundation as well as the Prescott, AZ Evening LIons Club.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Observing how funds won by our volunteers is being put to work. In the case of 90 year old Elizabeth Ruffner, her $36,000 win enabled the Elks Opera House to continue is refurbishment activity. In the case of Jason Sanchez, his $16,000 in wins enabled Youth Count to continue is fine work with local youths. The truth is that we have 95 success stories to tell about our graduates grant wins.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Expand the Board of Directors to include more influential and available individuals as well as professionals like a CPS and an attorney. I would also add at least 12 volunteers to serve as chapter mentors and add volunteers to make phone calls to our graduates and record the results of their efforts.
