My name is Damir and I met Larry 6 years ago in Waypoint. Since I am from Croatia you can imagine how different things were for me. Larry, Nick and all the guys were so awesome to me and I can honestly say that if there wasn't for Larry, who knows where my life would be right now. If so at all. He was the one that sacrificed his personal life and his family to help us. A calling on his life that God has for him. I know how hard it was and I've seen it first hand. Trust me, there is no money in the world that would pay for what he is doing every day. All the broken homes and problems of each man on his back. But also, the result of us becoming godly men and broken families put together. What a blessing for me to see and experience! I live a clean & sober life for six years now, have my own business and I am forever grateful that I had a chance to go through the program under Larry's guidance.

This progam is horrible I know it from experience. Do not be fooled that "God brought you here for a reason" ...please do yourself that favor. Religion is used as a tool to brainwash people into doing what McKenna tells you to do while in the program. He wants your money and could care less if u stay sober or not''.. so long as you pay him. Ive seen him treat people like dogs and drop them off at homeless shelters and make them walk if they don't want to be in the program any more. The living conditions would make any sane man insane. The only way he keeps his clients is if they're facing more time in jail or if they're horribly brainwashed into his insane version of christianity. I reiterate MORE time in jail. I'm a prime example. I was facing WAY MORE time in jail or woulda left to BE IN JAIL. Jail is better that the Jericho house, trust me. McKenna treats you like an animal once you sign that paper. Dont be fooled. He will humiliate anyone on that stool and, trust me, it's not to "save your life". It's to satisy his own inferiority complex. He loved picking on one client by not allowing his sister to buy him a pair of pants...he made him wear ONE pair of jeans every day and wash that ONE pair of jeans ONCE a week. Everyone else coulda had a wardrobe. He did it b/c that one particular person was overweight and got a kick out of it b/c he is a skinny mustached peice of trash. A despicable human being. That was just one example...there's millions more..it's unbelievable the way he interprets the Bible to justify his evil acts such as having everyone on food stamps yet feeding us donated food. We never got to use our food stamp cards ourselves. That leads me to the question: where was our food stamp cards really spent? I'll admit Jay did spend some of the stamp cards on eggs and other necessities but most of the food eaten was donated expired Trader Joe food...it was good the ...about the only thing in the program better than jail. Anyways folks : Do Not Be Fooled that "God brought you here for a reason" . Please...esp if u r a parent with a child in jail and wants your child to get better. I promise you it will make your child hate life and want to Get High. I'm serious: This place is no good..don't be fooled.

I am a recovering alcoholic and addict and have recently completed my Master’s in Psychology. I am interested in helping others like myself. Larry has been a family friend for over 30 years and I wanted his advice on how to get involved in a rehabilitation program to help other addicts. My dad and I spent several days at the Jericho House this July sharing meals, prayer time, and a church service with the men and their families. What I saw was amazing. A house full of addicts committed to Jesus, to each other, and to being sober whatever the cost. Addicts, including myself and Larry, spend lifetimes destroying friends, families, and loved ones. One year of life-saving separation from those same people to bring healing and restoration seems to be a small price to pay. The men I met seemed to agree.
I have kept in weekly contact with one of the men in the house since my visit through the mail. He celebrated his 5th month of sobriety this week which is the longest he has ever been sober. His letters are full of the love of Jesus. He constantly writes about what he is learning and the wonderful opportunity God has given him to spend this time at the Jericho House with other men that he has grown to trust and love. He has rebuilt relationships with his children and family. He now has a hope in a future he would not have dreamed of before.
If his were the only life changed by the Jericho House, it would be enough. Thank you to the McKenna’s who have lived through addiction and STILL CHOSE to help other addicts anyway.

As the wife of one of the success stories from The Jericho House, I can't say enough positive things about this organization. I admit, I thought Larry was insane after our first counseling sessions. Telling me I couldn't call my husband, or come see him, I thought was horrible. What I LEARNED was my husband and I were horrible to each other. He was an addict looking for an excuse to use, I was an enabler who needed someone who needed me to take care of him. Our marriage was in shambles when my husband went to the Jericho House, we were just to co-dependent to see the mess. After several months, and several mistakes and missteps on both our parts, Larry suggested a ladies program in Vero Beach, Florida for me. I fought the idea for awhile, but gave in eventually. When I arrived in Florida, I was still clueless as to how destructive we were to each other. After 9 months of counseling, classes, and tons of inner healing, I had changed and I came home to a different husband. We spent weeks getting to know each other, and working on our marriage--especially our communication. It has not been a bed of roses, it has been a lot of hard work, and lots of forgiveness on both parts, but our marriage today is healthy, happy, and blossoming. I look forward to seeing my husband each night when he comes home, we enjoy our time together, and time that was spent fighting, is spent praying and affirming each other. This does not mean we never fight, all couples do, but we use skills taught to us through the Jericho House and inner healing to resolve the situation. We now appreciate our differences and embrace our similarities. Thank you Larry for not giving up on us, when everybody else (including ourselves) had. Your patience and tough love helped us grow up and move forward into the life Christ intends for us!!

As one who has a son at The Jericho House I enthusiastically recommend this ministry. I have seen the life changing results in the life of my son as well as the lives of others who are the program. Larry and Rick are using their God given calling and talents to affect change in the lives of these men. They are allowing God to use them as a conduit to provide the necessary tools with which these men can use to allow God to help them overcome their addiction. It is not the ministry or the “program” or anything else that changes a person, only God can do the real change.
In the short time (8 months) our son has been at Jericho House we have seen many men come and go both on their own as well as being asked to leave due to rule infractions. Without exception, the guys who “get it” and buy into the program (not $ but with their heart, mind and soul) and allow God to do a work on their hearts are the ones who benefit and who see a radical change in their life. Is the program perfect or the leaders perfect? No and neither are any other ministries, businesses or people. Larry and Rick do care about the success of these men and their families and both are very knowledgeable about addiction and how to deal with it. I have seen their willingness to work with someone who has broken a rule when the person’s heart was right and repentant because they want to see the person succeed but not at the expense of undermining the ministry.
Addiction is destroying many families and we need to build up ministries like The Jericho House. It’s easy to find fault with any organization we are involved in but in my opinion the key thing is: are the lives of the men and their families being changed? I can only speak for myself and my family and the answer is YES!! Thanks be to God and The Jericho House!!

Two years ago Larry McKenna helped my son begin his long journey to recover from the addiction of drugs and alcohol. Through his intervention we were able to get the help my son so desperately needed. Larry gave of his time freely and generously never asking for anything. Larry is a good Christian man who cares deeply for those in need. Larry provided several options for treatment and recovery that included other programs. We ultimately chose another recovery center and Larry helped make arrangement to get my son into that program. My son is two years clean and sober this month. If not for Larry I know that I may not have a son today. I will be forever grateful to this wonderful human being.

What a great opportunity to be able to share our feelings about The Jericho House. To be a part of a ministry that is only two years old and growing is a God sent. We are not only volunteers but have a son in the program as well. We have been able to watch up close the changes the Jericho House has made in so many men's lives. The brotherhood that developes between the men is life long.
For us, we have seen the positive changes in our son, more confidence, dealing with feelings good and bad and buidling back bridges with people he loves. He has a renewed realtionship with God and understands the life long journey he is on.
As for Larry and Rick, these men give of themselves day in and day out with little if nothing in monitary compensation. The pay they get is the part they play in helping someone turn their lives around and live a happy and productive life. Both of these men care deeply for the men that come to them for help.
Being a part of The Jericho House has also changed us, we have made close realtionships with other families who know and understand the journey we are on. And through the recovery clases have learned how to deal with our own emotions and those of our son.
We are blessed that Larry and Rick have come into our lives. We will continue to work long after our son has graduated to help build an awareness of The Jericho House, and help in raising money for their continued success.

I have had the joy of knowing Larry and his family for over twenty years. My Dad served as Larry's Pastor as Larry experienced God's grace in dealing with his own battle as well as a call into this incredible ministry of freedom.
What a spiritual battlefield Larry and the team at Jericho House have entered. A battle to see men delivered from a life of addiction and pain.
They don't compromise and work to lift high the only name that can save a person from himself and that is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Larry has years of experience and uses a proven model of recovery that has been being used in a number of settings for years.
Take the time to learn more about this incredible ministry and get involved as the Lord leads you.

I am so grateful for the love, support and teachings given to my son at the Jericho House. My son is an addict and has fought his demons for years. The Jericho House staff and Larry McKenna taught my son to love God as well as learning to love himself. Larry McKenna teaches and rules with tremendous love , understanding and compassion.

I've been associated with non-profits for over thirty years and have known Larry McKenna for the past ten years. During my time with him for seven plus years at NLB, Larry not only helped my family, but helped me personally. He is one of the most dedicated men I've EVER known. He has always put others before himself and is a tireless leader and devote Christain. Because of Larry, I'm still at NLB daily and have been for the past 10 years. He is the main reason, I am teaching Famly Recovery at NLB and has recently helped me thru a tragic loss in our family (non-drug/alcohol related). Unfortunately, the world we now live in does not have enough Larry McKennas in it.
