Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture

Mission: The Jazz Gallery provides an international cultural center which traces and promotes current developments in jazz. The Gallery’s primary focus is on the youngest generation of professional jazz musicians, whom we nurture by giving them an audience for their performances and a stage upon which to assemble their bands. The Gallery also encourages established musicians to present new projects and collaborate in performances with emerging artists. In addition to very high quality live jazz music, the Gallery presents and exhibits visual arts, theater and poetry inspired by jazz.

Programs: Exhibit, promote, encourage, sponsor, and provide the knowledge of all music, art, and literary works in all media, including, but not limited to jazz and related arts.

The Jazz Gallery has undoubtedly done more than any other venue to further the NYC jazz/improvised music scene. Their dedication to presenting fresh and innovative artists as well as premiering new work is second to none.

When I think of the Jazz Gallery I think of cutting edge music, experimentation with fusion no matter the types of music, and community. When I moved to New York City in 2004, the Jazz Gallery was not only a place that I frequented often to check out great music, but it was also where I played my first gig in New York. I have always felt a great sense of family within the organization, which makes the audience feel comfortable while listening, and pushes the musicians to try new things with no fear of being judged.

The Jazz Gallery does great work presenting new music in NYC. It allows artists the freedom to pursue their own artistic vision and gives people a venue to experience the music in it's original form at an affordable price.

I have performed at the gallery. They take such good care of the people they present, and work incredibly hard on behalf New York's jazz and arts community. I couldn't think of a more deserving venue for this award.

The Jazz gallery is providing a neutral environment for musicians to develop their craft in. I believe it is directly responsible for a huge chunk of the innovation that is currently happening in the jazz community in New York City, which in turn is spreading throughout the rest of the world.

The jazz gallery is definitely one of the best jazz clubs in New York. It's a very unique place, giving a chance to young musicians to start a carrier in town and also for musicians who have been on the scene for awhile. Keeping a fairly low entry fee, making it easy for students and pretty much everyone on a low budget, to go and hear some of the best music in the world. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. This club definitely deserves the most support!

Jazz Gallery is certainly one of the most precious live music venues of New York City! Every city should have an efficient way to present new talent that pushes the boundaries like this place. Since the inception in 1995, Jazz Gallery has been a major contributor of support for New York's emerging artists. I along with many other great and important musicians got my start at this venue. This place attracts the very demographic that new artists are searching for, and in turn provides a hub for those who crave new, innovative and inspiring music. Non-profits like Jazz Gallery are very few and far between, but absolutely necessary to stimulate our society's culture through live music.
