This is an extraordinary venue in which both traditional and experimental jazz can be heard. It really is a laboratory for the art form. It's intimate, exciting, and utterly vital to New York's cultural life.

There is no other venue like the Jazz Gallery. Their insight into emerging talent, their ongoing support of established artists who have come up through the ranks, their total commitment to everything that makes great jazz possible, is unparalleled. Those of us who work with the musicians are grateful to them in so many ways. A

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

. . . seeing the Pedro Giraudo Jazz Orchestra gain the attention and recognition they deserve.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

. . . find them the means (funding) to do even more, for I know they would use it well.

What would the New York jazz scene be without the Jazz Gallery Unimaginable! The gallery is a mecca, a place that opens its ears and its heart to everything that is important and emerging in the world of jazz, an oasis of opportunity. The Gallery cares, and the Gallery dares. Thank you Dale, thank you Rio, thank you Deborah and Russell and Lezlie, and all the rest of the wonderful folks that make the Gallery unique and essential.

I have booked several superb musical ensembles at The Jazz Gallery, which has recognized their importance to evolving world of jazz before anyone else.

I'd love to see them better funded because I am confident they would use that for the best interests of the jazz community in New York.

I became a volunteer at The Jazz Gallery after four years of frequent attending of events. The music and events I saw at The Jazz Gallery completely changed my life. My ideas on creative music changed and I discovered many new artists that went on to have big impacts on my musical career. Getting the change to volunteer at The Jazz Gallery and help with these events was a truly special opportunity that i feel lucky to have had.

the many customers that commented on how wonderful of an organisation The Jazz Gallery is. They all felt that The Jazz Gallery was a special place and would then go on to bring many of their friends.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Expand the community programs that they have started to develop and if funds allowed to continue to offer the amazing artist-in-residence series.

I have had the pleasure to perform and see shows at the Jazz Gallery on many occasions. The Gallery has had a powerfully positive impact on the artistic community of NYC by supporting innovative artists and allowing them professional opportunities to develop and share their ideas.

It's an oft-repeated trope that you can tell the best ethnic restaurants by the make-up of their clientele. Walk into a Chinese restaurant on Canal St. and see tables full of the coach-bus-to-Broadway crowd, and you can safely turn around and walk out. Hop to the place next-door and do a double-take to make sure you're not in Fujian province, and you've probably hit the jackpot.

I've always thought of the Jazz Gallery as the music's New York hole-in-the-wall for people-in-the-know. It's the club in which I see the most musicians in the audience and the club that's most single-mindedly dedicated to the music. They're non-profit; they don't have a liquor license (and discontinued long ago their offering of a suggested-donation jug of wine); and they won't charge you for a second set if they don't have to. Artists who headline at Lincoln Center come to the Gallery to work through their ideas, to push farther and deeper, to experiment. I remember hearing Lee Konitz kill at the Gallery. I paid $10. Just before he became mega-star, I heard Jason Moran play a duo show with Rudresh Mahanthappa. You could catch Jason at the Vanguard and the show would be polished. Or you could hear him at the Gallery and it would be riskier, weirder, and—quite possibly—greater. The city has other great jazz venues, but the Jazz Gallery has always felt just a little more vital.

As the musician I have had the opportunity to present me in in Jazz Gallery. The personnel offers clear information about the programmatic and logistic aspects of the contracting. The space promotes an open, diverse cultural dynamics to all the musical styles with great level.
As the
guitarist, arranger, singer and composer of the duet Gema and Pavel I have had the opportunity to promote the concept of the Afro-Cuban music in NY through my presentations in the Jazz Gallery. They provided a cultural scene without parallels in that city. Is a supportive, welcoming, and comfortable environment with the professionals of the music and its followers.

My musical work has been noticeable in the cultural scene of NY in part thanks to the sponsorship that the Jazz Gallery has carried out before each presentation. The people that have listened me there they have become future followers or are fans of my work that have had the opportunity to enjoy it in an environment with highly quality acoustics and of a lot of comfort for them.

Jazz Gallery is a space with the one that I count for future presentations of my work and as a client I have enjoying musicians of highly caliber. Desire that more places can assume the cultural scene with the high level that the Jazz Gallery does it.

Of course living in New York, it's easy to get spoiled by all the great clubs and music venues. That said, Jazz Gallery stands out as an unique atmosphere, where the jazz lover can enjoy world class musicians, in an intimate setting, in which artists are invited to explore and experiment beyond what they might be able to do in other venues...
Because the Jazz Gallery survives not solely on ticket sales, the space is able to and has become famous for providing fertile ground in which new projects, concepts, and modes of expression within the jazz idiom can take root and be shared.

I'm proud to have performed on the stage, and am always fulfilled and delighted when I have the privilege of attending one of their always outstanding concerts. Certainly unique in it's field, (in fact in the U.S. there are VERY few venues operating at such a successful and publicly accesibe level)

The Jazz Gallery deserves 10 stars in my opinion
