The Jazz Gallery is a special venue. It is one of the only Jazz Clubs in New York that gives young artist a place to develop and perfect their craft while at the same time allowing the public to be a part of this process. It's a wonderful and intimate place to hear music.

In the last week two young jazz artists, bassist Linda Oh and pianist Fabian Almazan, moved out of their usual settings to present their music with a string quartet [Linda] and wind sextet [Fabian]. This would not happen anywhere else in NYC. That's why I love The Jazz Gallery!

The Jazz Gallery is one of my very favorite venues to play and listen to music in. The open spirit of the place encourages musicians to push the envelope and try out new things and that keeps the music moving forward. Highly recommended to any music lover.

This venue has created the right environment for some of the most uplifting and inspiring concerts I've ever played as a bandleader and as a sideman.

As one of the last serious concert venues in New York that is only and all about presenting and promoting original and compelling music, The Jazz Gallery is a national treasure and one of New York's true artistic landmarks. I can't recommend supporting and visiting the Jazz gallery highly enough.

The Jazz Gallery is an unusual and important resource in the jazz world. Not only is it a high-quality and prestigious venue with curatorial vision, but one that is a pure listening room as opposed to one in which the musicians are competing for attention and sonic space with food and drinks. This is a highly unusual combination of traits among venues with regular weekly performances year-round. Furthermore, they are particularly committed to fostering new music from active jazz composers, which is a blessing for those composers and for the scene as a whole. I have had great experiences on both sides of their bandstand and am very grateful for their continued fine work.

If the funds became available it would be great if they could develop the capacity to do release-quality live recordings on-site.

The Jazz Gallery is definitely one of the most important jazz institutions in NYC.I've been playing there since the place first opened and it has always been a pleasure. As a listener you get a big variety of all the new jazz that's being created and played in NYC.It's places like the Jazz Gallery who keep this incredible art form a live.Their support of creative, non-commercial music is a rare and beautiful thing. They help create and sustain a real jazz community in the city.

The Jazz Gallery is an essential part of New York's jazz community. A listening room that's all about the music and supporting creativity. Considering how many jazz clubs have come and gone over the years, I am grateful for the longevity of this downtown gem!

Tje Jazz gallery not only presents great jazz musicians and funds new works, it has been a major incubator of young talent in NYC. Its audience-friendly, musician- friendly and the room has a very soulful sweet sound...both for playing and listening. Thank you Jazz Gallery for continuing to present fresh music against all odds

The Jazz Gallery is one of the hidden wonders of the New York Jazz world, and it shouldn't be. It nurtures jazz musicians, young and older, and provides them with a forum to work on new ideas, configurations, compositions in a truly cooperative atmosphere. It confers dignity both to its artists and its audience. There has never been an occasion where I have been disappointed in an evening spent at the Gallery, and some of those evenings have been transportive. It has been a privilege to part of that community. Of course, for a long time Jazz lover, it is also a comfort and thrill to see that old piano from Bradley's sitting there, waiting for yet another pair of hands to bring it to life.

That's a hard one. However, the first thing that comes to mind is the evening John Ellis presented his opera piece. He is a dear friend and we are so so pleased that he has been chosen for a residency this year.

I am not sure that I would change much except one day to have an airier space for the musicians and, in the meantime, to tune up the heating pipes during the winter months

The Jazz Gallery provides a unique and otherwise largely absent service in the New York City area by presenting non-commercial art and music on a regular basis, in a loft-style, listening space, through which a true art-music sub-community has been created and subsequently sustained.

The Jazz Gallery has helped me compose and present new musical works.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would upgrade the sound system, lighting and ventilation/AC.
