The Jazz gallery is providing a neutral environment for musicians to develop their craft in. I believe it is directly responsible for a huge chunk of the innovation that is currently happening in the jazz community in New York City, which in turn is spreading throughout the rest of the world.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing audiences popping up that were not interested in jazz become interested in it as a result of attending a concert at the Jazz Gallery

The Jazz Gallery is one of the best places to hear live music New York City. The careful attention to programming and diversity of music makes The Jazz Gallery an important institution in the New York City jazz community. Additionally, not serving food and drinks makes the gallery a listening room, something that has become increasingly rare in the difficult economic climate. An outstanding pillar of the jazz community, the gallery serves as an important home base for lots of musicians, and plays host to an active community of artists.

The Jazz Gallery is one of the best music venues in New York. Given how competitive the jazz scene is and how expensive venues often are for the general public, it's an invaluable resource both for musicians and fans. You get the sense that musicians really have a chance to try new things and work together in a supportive environment. Listeners hear top-notch music for a reasonable price and in a casual venue. In such an expensive and demanding city, jazz needs places like the Gallery to evolve.

The Jazz Gallery is one of the mos important music venue in New York City, as it places artistic concerns above all.
Since its inception it has presented a wide stylistic range of jazz,
with the musicians being of the highest caliber, who are free to present their artistic vision without

The jazz gallery is definitely one of the best jazz clubs in New York. It's a very unique place, giving a chance to young musicians to start a carrier in town and also for musicians who have been on the scene for awhile. Keeping a fairly low entry fee, making it easy for students and pretty much everyone on a low budget, to go and hear some of the best music in the world. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. This club definitely deserves the most support!

The Jazz Gallery is a special venue. It is one of the only Jazz Clubs in New York that gives young artist a place to develop and perfect their craft while at the same time allowing the public to be a part of this process. It's a wonderful and intimate place to hear music.

In the last week two young jazz artists, bassist Linda Oh and pianist Fabian Almazan, moved out of their usual settings to present their music with a string quartet [Linda] and wind sextet [Fabian]. This would not happen anywhere else in NYC. That's why I love The Jazz Gallery!

The Jazz Gallery is one of my very favorite venues to play and listen to music in. The open spirit of the place encourages musicians to push the envelope and try out new things and that keeps the music moving forward. Highly recommended to any music lover.

As one of the last serious concert venues in New York that is only and all about presenting and promoting original and compelling music, The Jazz Gallery is a national treasure and one of New York's true artistic landmarks. I can't recommend supporting and visiting the Jazz gallery highly enough.

The Jazz Gallery is an unusual and important resource in the jazz world. Not only is it a high-quality and prestigious venue with curatorial vision, but one that is a pure listening room as opposed to one in which the musicians are competing for attention and sonic space with food and drinks. This is a highly unusual combination of traits among venues with regular weekly performances year-round. Furthermore, they are particularly committed to fostering new music from active jazz composers, which is a blessing for those composers and for the scene as a whole. I have had great experiences on both sides of their bandstand and am very grateful for their continued fine work.

If the funds became available it would be great if they could develop the capacity to do release-quality live recordings on-site.
