"Community Member" is dead wrong. There is no charge to pantries to gain access to donated food. I was on the board of IFB for many years and seen how they have given panrtries access to food and taken food to communities that had no pantries. They have donated freezers and refigerators to pantries to increase their capacity to keep food fresh. The IFB has been in business for over 25 years. I can't imagine where Comm Member is getting their information.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Our church has a pantry and receives food every week from IFB.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

House a pantry on their premises so individuals can get some help when they show up at the warehouse.

This charity doesn't actually feed the hungry - they are strictly a warehouse that stores and then charges nonprofit entities that deal directly with the hungry people for the food that is donated by the community. So when they say they have "fed the hungry" they have not..........they have simply taken the food that in the past has been directly to social service entities and pantries and now "store" it. This has hurt the social service entities as now they have to deal with the Idaho FoodBank to get their pantries filled in order to feed the hungry.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have called to ask for a food box and have been told, by them, "we don't give out food boxes. You'll have to go to your local food pantry"

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Require them to be upfront with the communities they "serve" and tell the donors that they are strictly a warehouse....that they have no part of handling the thousands of hungry individuals coming to all the social service entities and food pantries.
