HFF is facing serious challenges with budget cutbacks. Please be generous. We are losing the battle for the family in our culture.

I work as a development director at this organization. When I hear or see that a head of household has been employed, the children are able to attend the Dowd Education Center, and the family moves to independence it is like watching a child take their first steps. It is a thrill each and every time. I especially enjoy sharing the news of what we are doing with committed donors and prospects.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

watching children take those first steps, seeing grateful families being able to celebrate the holidays, watching the satisfaction that the many volunteers have in participating, and watching the teachers and tutors at the Dowd Education Center at work.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

I am proud to work with the dedicated employees and committed volunteers. Our donors give generously.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Enthusiastic, energetic and giving.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Place more families in housing and help more with establishing themselves. Hire more teachers so more children could attend the Dowd.

Ways to make it better...

each class could have 16 students rather than the 8 (8:1 required ratio).

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding for operations and salaries.

I came to The Homeless Families Foundation a little over a year ago after working with a Boys & Girls Club. I wanted the opportunity to continue to work with children afterschool and in the summer. Since coming here I have been amazed at the academic standards the HFF Dowd Education Center provides for these innocent victims of homelessness. The meals, classwork and enrichment activities are provided in a safe and caring environment where everyone is encouraged to do their best. Seeing these children grow has been very rewarding for me.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

my daily interactions with the children at the HFF Dowd Education Center.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

increase the number of staff at the Dowd Education Center so that more children could attend and increse the resources available to all of HFF so that more could be done to end homelessness in Columbus.

More feedback...

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

having the opportunity to work directly with children every day and see they smile

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

considerate and dedicated to the children and their families.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

end homelessness in Columbus, provide afterschool and summer academic assistance to a larger number of at-risk children, and duplicate these efforts in multiple sites around town.

Ways to make it better...

I could find a way to do more on a daily basis to improve the lives of the children being served.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding for operations and staffing.

One thing I'd also say is that...

This is truly a place where homeless families find the caring guidance they need to get back on their feet.
