This organization is eerily similar to the same churches the protest against. From the outside they look like a safe-haven; a place where you can learn and grow in Christ while being open and honest about who you are without the fear of condemnation or judgment. However, once one becomes active within the community they find it is a terribly different story. You are severely restricted on your ability to share ideas if it goes against the general consensus and will become a target of threats and condemnation if you stand firm to what you believe in. Psychologically speaking this site is a very detrimental site to the recovery of those who are seeking help from it. I have several reasons for saying this. First; their idea of support is enabling those seeking support to continue to wallow in their problems while providing them with no more than half hearted, truly empty positive affirmations. However their guise of Christian is no more than that. In promoting the sovereignty of Christ on that site, along with faith in Him and the Word you place yourself at being ejected from the site. They will so hatefully condemn the heterosexual community for their lack of acceptance just to turn around and do the same to those who come to their site seeking fellowship w/other bible believing homosexuals. I would not donate to this site whatsoever as it is unfruitful; a fact that is evident from it's stagnation in development and technology in spite of it's decade in existence. Any homosexuals, or family members of homosexuals seeking spiritual support would be better going to Exodus International. While I do not believe with Exodus International's agenda to make everyone "ex-gay" their practices and faith are more consistent with Christs teaching and they do stand a better chance of inciting personal growth within those who reach out to them. --M. As a Christian minister I realize that the LGBTQ has been all too often demonized b y the Church, leading those of faith in the community with no where to turn and causing folks to feel bad about themselves.
GCN is a marvelous antidote to this. They do great work, and are firmly committed to
both people and Christ.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with many gay and lesbian clients. This website has proved to be an invaluable resource in helping my clients connect with other like-minded individuals throughout the country.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Absolutely. One young man I was counseling was only interested in dating another gay christian, and he was having problems finding one. I directed him to this site and within 4 months he began dating someone he had met.

GCN is a vital resource to youth, especially, in their journey of self-discovery and integration of their same-sex sexual orientation and evangelical Christian faith. By providing an online social network and community of support, GCN is a unique lifeline for those who are often marginalized and persecuted by their families and church friends. Its written resources, videos, chatrooms, conferences, and opportunities for local connection save lives, literally. I'm proud to refer people to GCN and to support this ministry as a donor.

I'm happy to offer GCN as a resource to people looking for additional information and an online community in their process of developing their self-identity and personal ethics.

GCN is a strong and successful frontline discipleship ministry focused on helping gay Christians mature in their faith and sexuality. It's important that its limited resources are not spread too thin in the service of other important but tangential needs (e.g. advocacy, witness).

GCN is a very good, long term, and strong standing ministry of "Faith in Christ for ALL People" at home and around the world. The dedication of its founder and supporters can not be beat. There is nothing that could replace the ministry GCN has given to the people. GCN serves such great need for love, acceptance, and a commitment to regular communication for everyone who will listen to hear.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Many of the people my ministry serves are also reached by GCN and the more all of the ministries with "Faith in Christ for ALL People" keep serving the better those needs are met.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would dump at least a million dollars on GCN if it was available. The long-term dedication is even much, much more valuable than that.

Very Well

Life-changing

Will you recommend this organization to others?

Definitely

What is unique about this organization?

It was the first audio discussion from personal perspectives of the leader, staff, and participants of its kind that has continued for many years. It has carried a consistent message throught its existence and stuck with the subject matter of the mission entailed rather than trying to dominate other ministries and subjects not tied with the same mission.

The GCN touches lives of Christian Gay men and women who need to know that God loves them and accepts them actually as they are. It has been my joy to share with others how this journey is shared by many, and you do not have to be excluded for who you are.
At a recent conference, a young man
from Chicago told me how I had saved his life through my youtube messages on the dangers of ex-gay ministry. He would have gone there because he didn't want to go to hell for being gay. My message gave him hope that God had created him as a gay man and he could embrace that, along with his faith.

I've been involved with several organizations like GCN however this group is so dedicated to their mission and have really truly been an amazing support system to thousands of people who feel neglected, abandoned and rejected. GCN offers support, encouragement and wonderful counseling that has not only affect my life personally, but many many more.

First and foremost I want to say this... some organizations say "everyone is welcome," and some mean it, some don't... The Gay Christian Network takes it to a whole new level. Everything they strive to do, they do in a spirit of unconditional love. You need to be involved with this organization regardless of your sexual orientation... it will radically change your life if you let it. I honestly can't make my experience fit in this text box, but I will tell you that if you are having ANY struggle with being LGBT, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU NEED TO BE!!!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the core of my being, and in observing how it changes lives for the better.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Change nothing. They're already headed in the right direction.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Their relentless spirit of love and outreach. If everyone on earth was like these people, we would rid ourselves of poverty, disease, and war within 50 years. I guarantee it.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Amazing... in every possible sense of the word.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Change the world. Not even kidding.

Ways to make it better...

I had found it earlier.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Closed-mindedness, ignorance, and budget.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week

the friendliness, kindness and support of the group.

awesome.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

help soooo many more people, especially young people who are struggling with their sexuality or rejection from parents or others.

Ways to make it better...

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding and discrimination, not necessarily in that order.

One thing I'd also say is that...

... i really wish GCN had 10 million dollars. there would be many more healthy, happy same gender loving people with high self-esteem, who can also fully embrace their christianity.
