Like Nikki, I am a straight ally and have been involved with GCN for about three years. The value I see for furthering my ministry is twofold. I have firsthand relationships with a group I am trying to fight for justice for and I have a place where I can point people to. Several times a week, I am able to say in person, e mail on the internet "do you know about GCN, got to ..." It is a wonderful social community and resource.
I'm a straight ally, but I see God doing so many good things here. My own faith has been strengthened by the members, and I know that GCN will continue to be a apart of promoting God's love and LGBT acceptance. I am so proud to be a witness to so many amazing journey's!
The Gay Christian Network allows not only a safe place for gays but something more! They are naturally progressive through their feelings and experiences. They are driven by God in truth and light. This community of people does not hide themselves or seek refuge here.. They go out into the community raising awareness and breaking down walls people have set up. These wonderful people treat each other with respect and take their work in the church seriously.
GCN has had an amazing impact on my life. I found GCN at a time when I was still struggling with balancing my sexuality and spirituality. In GCN I found an amazing community of people who were there to support me and bless me at a time in my life when I needed it most. Now that a few years have passed I am not quite as in need of the support anymore but GCN is still in my life because it gives me a chance to support others the way I was supported.
Gay Christian network is a valuable place and has provided a safe haven for those of us who might not be able to express ourselves as we'd like. The network itself provides great resources as well as the message board providing other resources and support all in all this place is a great online community for LGBT and non LGBT Christians alike!
