Mission: The Garage Theatre Group believes in the power of theatre as a tool for growth, understanding, and communication. Our aim is to use the process of theatre, as well as the product, to educate, inform, and connect the communi ty in which we live. The shows that comprise The Garage theatre Group season are challenging as well as entertaining, reflecting our belief that theatre is an open dialogue between the playwright, the performer, and the audience. At the conclusion of each Main Stage performance, a discussion with the cast, director, and audience is held. By doing so, we hope to inspire and create a new generation of artists, theatregoers, and patrons.

Michael Bias, artistic/producing director, is a true artist. Michael continues to provide audiences with professional, top notch talent. If you love the theatre, take a break from shlepping into the city, and enjoy the Garage Theatre Group in Teaneck, NJ. You won't be disappointed as the professional performances at The Garage Theatre are always interesting and thought provoking. You'll walk away fullfilled both on an artistic level, and an intellectual level. Don't miss Solofest!!!

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

win a variety of theatre awards

Last Sunday once again the Garage Theatre group provided an enjoyable afternoon at a reasonable cost. The presentation of the Enigma Variations was thought provoking and presentation inovative. The actors did a stellar job in what could otherwise be just "talking heads". Sometimes the audience is ahead of the story, but the story includes some interesting & surprising twists. Seating of the audience on both sides of the stage was interesting. Discussion after the performance is always enjoyable - a positive addition. Recommend this to anyone looking for good theatre & I'm looking forward to attending more of this type of theatre in the future.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

friendly and helpful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

do more of exactly what they're doing - maybe year round.

I grew up going to the Garage Theatre Group as a child and it was always the most creative outlet in my life. The people here are serious about what they do. The staff take their art seriously, but also provide an environment for children to flourish and have fun doing it. Some of my most enduring life-long friends were made at the Garage. Now that i'm older, I'm a patron of the Garage Theatre Groups professional theatre. This theatre consistently puts on the most innovative and thought provoking shows in the whole tri-state area. I find myself looking forward to which show is next at the garage more than what shows are new to Broadway!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

every aspect of my life. They made me the person I am and provide me with amazing theatre on a regular basis

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

wish they had the budget to put on more shows every year.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

learning.. both as a student and as an audience member

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

sophisticated and extremely well educated.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

continue doing what they're doing!!

Ways to make it better...

there were more shows in a year to see!

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

budget concerns. I think they could use more donations for their operating budget.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Garage brings Great theater to Bergen county. Lots of innovative programs for adults and the Garage Youth program seems to be in a open curtain for kids to learn the theater.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the diversity of shows and the casting.

Garage Theatre presents professional performances of top quality to the community in a comfortable space with lots of free parking. The plays presented are rarely performed in this area and are often U.S., regional or world premieres. They are generally challenging, thoughtful pieces that many other performing groups would shy away from. In addition, there is the unique opportunity for audience members to have a conversation with cast and director after every performance. Youth Conservatory productions are of professional quality and the children performing get a top-notch theatre education experience throughout the rehearsal process.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

enjoying top-quality theatre on a regular basis.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

improve its facility, hire more people, improve publicity.
