I reached out to The Connie J Goodale Breast Cancer Foundation after receiving my breast cancer diagnosis. It felt like a punch in the stomach! In addition to being "under insured," I was unable to work after the surgery. Prior to beginning radiation, The Connie foundation paid my rent for me! I couldn't believe that virtual strangers had stepped up to plate for me. Lauren was a dream. So compassionate and so kind!

I'll never forget the kindness of your foundation!

Again, my sincere thanks.

Some friends and I started the Connie Foundation 14 years ago. I'm proud of what we've accomplished. Please come to our events & donate if you are able. All proceeds go directly to women and their families affected by breast cancer.

I was diagnosed with stage 2b breast cancer at 29 years old. My son was just 16 months old at the time. Although we had "great" insurance, the medical bills quickly added up. Before we knew it, we were drowning in co-pays alone. We had been denied by almost every charity at that point. A bilateral mastectomy, 4 months of chemo with major complications, and 6.5 weeks of radiation all while caring for an active toddler is hard enough, but the added financial stress was just devastating. When I got the call from the Connie Foundation, I actually expected it to be a bill collector when I didn't recognize the number on my caller ID. I burst into tears when they told me that they were going to help with a month of living expenses. I was finally able to get through a month of treatment just focusing on beating cancer instead of worrying about money.
