The Center for Coordinating Action for Children's Health Respite House

5 Stars. AHK is an incredible facility. I have personally been involved for approximately 7 years, my daughter volunteers and my husband is on the medical advisory board. AHK is a temporary home for children that are nedically fragile or respite care for families who may need a break from the burden of daily care. The staff is highly trained and truly love each and every child. It's a medical facility that feels like home. We need more houses like AHK!
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
the families who may need the care. The expertise and level of care is a godsend to families that aren't medically experienced. They teach the parents/caretakers how to take care of these kids at home. Respite care later.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
the children. They truly love being here. The families are champions for AHK because it has provided them with valuable training that they never would have gotten going from hospital to home with their medically fragile child.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
WOW! The staff and volunteers are definitely highly motivated. The medical staff is all pediatric trained and come from high level backgrounds. The volunteers are there because they love the kids!
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
GROW! We need many more of these facilities. The price per child would be exponentially less if there were more AHK's.

this is one of the very few places we have ever felt comfortable leaving our medically fragile son for respite - it's beautifully appointed, the nursing staff are incredibly attentive and they really make the stay fun for the kids that go there - we liked it so much I now volunteer on the Board
