CCD is not just a school for dance, but it's a family of individuals pushing you to accomplish more than you can think in life. I'm currently in my late 30s. I was just interested in improving my dance technique. This school has showed me the importance of knowing my body and what I am capable of doing with it. The atmosphere is non-competitive and encourages learning. They treat each person who enters the CCD with respect. The faculty is professional, but they will challenge you physically and mentally. CCD has demonstrated that it's a business in the aspect of it's commitment, consistency, and effective communication. They do what they say and if they're not able to, they address it immediately with a back-up plan. I'm amazed by the talent and the spirit of excellence that makes you love this place and what they do for the community.
CCD has provided my daughter with the chance to experience dance in many different aspects. We have tried several diferent studios and my daughter has never taken to any of them. At CCD my daughter fell in love with both the teachers and the students. She is enjoying dancing and gaining life experiences. Thank You CCD!
Since my child has been going to the The Center For Contemporary Dance Inc it has been like a breath of fresh air. Little did I know that there was a dance school that not only teach the children ballet, but also make sure that they learn the language of ballet. The staff is not only great, they are also patient towards the children and the parents. Taking the time out to answer each question that we may have. They are genuinely concerned about the progress of the children.
My two young girls attend an introductory classical Ballet class offered by Dario Moore at the Center for Contemporary Dance. It continues to be a wonderful experience for them. They are learning so much in ballet yes, I am always amazed at how they remember the steps and terminology and my youngest is only 4, but also in their character. Their self respect as well as respect of others, accountability for themselves and their actions and behavior in class. Although, Dario is so captivating that following instruction for the students is pleasure for them. They convey the utmost in professionalism at CCD, with the warmth and caring necessary to nurture children and I am sure these key qualities are maintained in all classes and performances at CCD.
My daughter has gained much from the wonderful, caring individuals that CCD provided. They sait with her to discuss her goals and made every attempt to make sure they provided opportunities for her to participate and grow her own dance. They partnered with her to grow with guidance and support. We feel very pleased with our work at CCD.
Wonderful school with caring instructors and a very laid-back atmosphere, which allows students to focus on dance, movement, and creativity.
Like a lot of smart kids, my daughter sometimes gets discouraged when she doesn't immediately excel at something new. The teachers at The Center for Contemporary Dance have taught her to love the process, even when it isn't easy right away, and to keep striving for her best. After a tough elementary ballet class, she told me, with a big grin on her face, "I'm not great at leaps on my left side yet, but I'll keep trying. My teacher says, 'Dance is discipline,' so I can't give up."
My daughter transferred to CCD from a competition studio last summer after completing the Summer Intensives. We learned that she was behind her peers in "general technique" and excelled in "Artistry". She cried many nights during the first few weeks of the fall term, but she did not give up. She now attends class six (6) days a week and has excelled to become one of the top dancers in and above her age group. Her confidence has increased and she is now cheorographing her own works. My shy little girl is gone, woooo hoooo. She is a beautiful dancer with a strong point of view. Her latest work was motivated by "moving barriers and overcoming insecurities". She now articulate the history of dance. Define and demonstrate the various dance techniques. The FAILED the first written exam she was given during FALL 2011 and ACED the latest exam given SPRING 2012, scoring over 100% by correctly answering the extra credit questions. We love The Center for Contemporary Dance and plan on attending as long as we can. By the way my daughter is 10.
CCD is by far more than just a dance studio it is a second home for anyone that loves the art of dance. The instructors take the time to understand each student’s needs and works with them to not only develop the technique but the fundamentals of life and how the arts can be a basis for which to strive in any life event. They are a wonderful asset to the community bringing awareness to the importance of the arts as well as access to be involved to thousands of children that would not have access to it with out them. I would highly recommend this studio.
At the beginning of this year, my daughter was ready to stop taking dance lessons. She had not found a studio where she felt both challenged and at home. Since she began studying at CCD, dance has become her favorite activity. She is challenged and motivated. She has set dance goals for herself -- for the next few months, for high school, college, and beyond. The changes have been noticeable -- her dancing has improved, but so has her poise, her confidence, her strength, and her physique. She adores all of the faculty and is happy and comfortable with the other students. This has been a wonderful experience for her. I would highly recommend this studio to others.
