My daughter, my mother and I all take classes at CCD. We have all gained strength physically and emotionally from our time here. The school teaches dance but instills a sense of confidence and well-being in all of the community members.

We look for greatness in big ways, but sometimes the true greatness happens on a smaller personal, community level. This greatness may not come with headlines and breaking news bulletins. This greatness does come with hard work, faith and the true desire to inspire positive change. That is what CCD is all about. Small, beautiful, steps full of grace that touch lives in big and small ways. Dario Moore and Craig Johnson touch souls and open hearts to the true possibility of good in the human condition because CCD I, your vision, commitment and CCD. To have thrived in this challenging social and economic climate is a testament to all that CCD is doing right.

It has been my good fortune to know about CCD and the great work that has been done by this organization over the last 10 year. I'm looking foward to the amazing possibilites that will be realized in the next 10 years.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I've had the great pleasure of working with the company as a professional visual artist and as an art educator. I've seen first hand how this organization embraces the community to bring dance and arts to everyone -- especially at-risk and underserved youth.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Give them sufficient funds so they could fully implement all of their programs.

I have been a supporter of The Center for Contemporary Dance for the last six years by volunteering at performances, assisting with costumes, teaching art classes at the Center, and sharing the Center’s mission and philosophy with others. The Center for Contemporary Dance has one of the most successful, innovative, and committed dance and community outreach arts programs in our region. The focus of all their programs is transformation, inclusiveness, and collaboration. Mr. Moore and Mr. Johnson actively seek out and encourage artists from all the arts to connect with a wide array of community organizations to develop the incredible potential the arts have to empower, unite and restore communities and individuals. The Center for Contemporary Dance believes that the arts can change people, the community, and the world. Dario Moore and Craig Johnson’s passion and commitment to this philosophy can be seen at every rehearsal, performance, or casual meeting. Creativity is the process of transformation and The Center for Contemporary Dance is a haven where people from all disciplines can join together to be part of that process -- and as Dario Moore has said, “have a profound and positive impact on the on the world in which they live.”

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The passion, honesty, and committment to the arts of everyone in the organization.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

supportive, engaged, and in sync with the Center's philosophy.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Build a performing arts center where all members of the community could study and participate in the expressive arts. Tour their programs outside of the state of Florida. Share their talents with a larger audience.

"Journal your frustrations in dance in order to confront and eradicate distractions." I heard Executive Director, Craig W. Johnson, say these words to a beautiful bunch of Pre-Professional Students at the Center for Contemporary Dance. It inspired me to begin my own journal and overtime I've realized how important journalling is to a person's growth and development. Artistic Director, Dario J. Moore, reiterates the importance of this concept during his classes, enforcing an intellectual stimulant that's necessary for a dancer's prosperity in the arts arena. Since the advent of my connection with CCD I have encountered caring, loving, spirited personalities that have influenced the way that I presently perceive the world. Looking back, I feel like I've grown 10 years from the place I started when I first joined the CCD family. My coming to CCD was not only the opportunity of a lifetime, but I believe ordained by God for the purpose He has put on my life - purpose that CCD will definitely help you find. There is no better place to grow than in a loving, grace-filled atmosphere like CCD. Words do not give justice to the untold sentiments I have for the Center for Contemporary Dance... thank you CCD.

I've known Dario J. Moore from our days together at Ballethnic Dance Company in Atlanta, GA. He was a hard working performing and there were many numerous positive attributes that he absorbed that he is applying in running his Arts organization! He comes from a tradition of artistry that is equipped with influences from all the major schools of thought in the dance world, i.e.; Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Modern, Jazz and fusion work as well. The training bases range from School of American Ballet, Dance Theater of Harlem and the Juilliard School to the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center as well. Its good to see what kind of a positive influence he is having on his community and I wish him and his colleagues well in their future endeavors!

My daughter is an elementary ballet student at CCD. We first came in for a free class during Arts Fest and, when we returned a few months later to sign up for classes, the person working the desk welcomed us back and called us both by name. I knew then that this was a special place that would care for my daughter's individual needs.

I love sitting in on classes now and then. The young students clearly adore their teachers, but the teachers don't give empty praise. They are kind but firm and expect every student to do her or his best. My daughter is learning to express herself, but she's also learning discipline and the value of hard practice. I love that she's learning these lessons in a diverse, welcoming and nurturing environment.

I brought my 11 yr-old daughter to the Center for Contemporary Dance hoping to find professional technical training with a genuinely loving Dance atmosphere! Well, We found that and much much more!

My daughter came to them with a wounded spirit, but after sharing with Craig our previous
struggles with dance studios he knew exactly the right path for her and went into action! Craig, Dario and all of the faculty truly cared enough to help her find her way again through dance!

We are SO......... Blessed to be a Part of something as Amazing as CCD! To be around like minded people is such an inspiration, words cannot describe the pleasure it brings me as a mom!

I want to Publicly Thank Craig, Dario, Jere' and Josan from the bottom of my heart, for believing in My daughter and taking the time to care about her fragile mind set when we first showed up at CCD, I am eternally grateful!

I am a believer that nothing happens by accident! I am always praying for God's Will to be done in our lives and to help guide me to where we need to be. I believe God directed us to CCD for her protection and guidance, and to help mold her dance future for His Will!

My daughter have been dancing for 10 years (since age 4), she lives to dance, so she was devasted when I told her I could not afford dance classes anymore, and had to pull her from her Dance School because I lost my job. My Good friend told me about CCD, her daughter attend and invite us to a recital. We were very impress, Craig and Dario gave my daughter an audition and like her, but I could not afford the tuition, so she couldn't attend. For weeks she came home from school and lock herself in her room, it really hurts me to see her this way. Then Craig call and offered her a scholarship, she came home sore and hurting from her first dance class, but happy. She gave me a big hug, told me she love me and thank me for butting her back in a Dance School. The THANKS goes to CCD and the Give Kids the Art Scholarship Program, for bringing my happy dancer back to life. I am also very impress with the The Director and the dance instructors, Jere, Dario and Josan, they are all so professional, good and caring. Thanks a Bunch

Both directors Craig and Dario have played a vital role in the development of my daughter's artistic development. They work more as mentors than simply teachers. They show concern about her personal growth as an individual as well as a dancer. I have received emails following up on observations during class as well as personal one on one conversations on what they would like to incorporate in her curriculum to take her to the next level. My daughter has gone to other schools but none has EVER given the personal touch that I've received at The Center. Giving Kids the Arts has allowed my daughter to grow in self-esteem and dance skills. Thanks for all that you guys do for the youth that enter your program.

From my first contact with Craig at Center for Contemporary Dance, I knew this was the place for my daughter to further her dance studies. Craig spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me making sure I understood how they work and getting my daughter set up for her first class. It's obvious that Craig and the instructors at CCD do it for the love of dance and the children and not for the money. This was recently proven again when I went through a rough time and was unsure if my daughter would be able to attend classes, when I informed Craig that my daughter may have to miss some classes, he promptly responded with a scholarship for her for 10 classes. A company that is driven by profits and not the love of the sport would have said they were sorry to hear that and they'll see us when we have the money again; not CCD. I am so thankful for CCD and their wonderful staff. My daughter wakes up every morning asking if it's 'dance day!' Thank you for giving my daughter something to look forward to every week!
