I volunteered on and off for The Awareness Center for the last several years. I wanted to get involved because I am a Jewish Survivor and wanted to help others to heal. The organization has helped survivors on an international basis on so many different levels, from helping a survivor find a therapist, connecting them with appropriate legal professionals, medical professionals who are experienced working with survivors -- to helping survivors connect with others. It's amazing how much work this organization has done with little to no money. I can only think of what they could do if everyone would donate funds.

Vicki is tireless in her quest for justice.I'm glad I'm on her side, I wouldn't want to fight with her.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

It would have more staff than Vicki and a stable funding base.

I have referred clients to The Awareness Centre and have spent time with the executive director, Vicki Polin. This organization is an invaluable resource not just for Jewish people who have been victimized but for anyone whose victimization has an element of any religious institutions involvement.

For those who have been abused by a religious leader or where religion plays a part in the violation, this organization's expertise is essential. So many therapists and advocates miss the importance of the role of religion and the client's spiritual belief system.

The Awareness Center also acts as a clearing house for education as well as information for those who work with vulnerable people. The Center provides educational training for survivors groups, community organizations, rabbis, teachers and parents with the lofty goal of ending sexual violence.

The Great!
