The American Heritage orchestra was founded by a group of musicians and educators, who had a common concern, that is, that a proper education in the arts, specifically music, was too often unavailable to primary and secondary students in the public school system. When budgets get tight, the arts are treated like extra-curricular activities and are the first to be cut or underfunded. (We note that football programs are never cut.) The purpose of the American Heritage Orchestra is to bring LIVE, HIGH QUALITY MUSIC to elementary, middle, and high school students, as part of a music appreciation lesson. In addition, opportunities would be provided for instruction for qualified students, all free of charge. Monies raised would also fund public concerts, raising money for college scholarships to be awarded to talented high school students. The officers and board members have not only agreed to serve with no remuneration, but some have also made gift-in-kind and monetary donations to the corporation. This may be considered as proof of their combined faith in the purpose and need for this program. (I am not being critical of our local Boards of Education. In fact, they are to be commended for what they have done in this area, considering the limits of their budgets. However, it is not enough. Thus, this is an opportunity for an outside agency, the American Heritage Orchestra, to step in and fill the gap.) R. Wolfgang Schramm Emeritus Professor, West Liberty University

This review is in regards to Tony Salvatori. I had the pleasure of studying private Trombone lessons with Tony when I was in High School. Tony is an incredible teacher, Classical, Jazz and much more. Tony's training helped me so much when I traveled worldwide with The Duke Ellington Orchestra conducted by Mercer Ellington, Southside Johnny and the Jukes and The Spirit of Life Ensemble. Tony plays Bass Trombone and is an excellent arranger and band leader. He has played with The Buddy Rich Band, Broadway shows in NYC, his Big Band, and countless artists thru the years. I wish him well with his new project the "American Heritage Orchestra". Wheeling is lucky to have such a great musician in residence.
