I love Tech Corps. My son had an amazing time there. He started off at another camp that was more out door based the other kids were very rude and my son hated it. The staff did nothing until I took my son out of the program. The staff and kids were very in tuned to what we needed and wanted. The camps were a great and fum learning experience and the scholarship was great for us as I had recently lost my job. Thank you again and we hope to see you next year

Volunteer friendly in an otherwise scary role. Who would have thought that someone could provide a program where non-teachers are encouraged to "teach" kids on a volunteer basis - and it would be SO rewarding? The "class lessons" are so well prepared - almost anyone could lead the students through these wonderful experiences. The kids love it!!!

I have been a Tech Corps volunteer for five years and the experience has been phenomenal! The ability to give back to the community by helping students unlock their potential in STEM fields is extremely rewarding. TECH CORPS programs and partnerships give students exposure that is unparalleled.

Tech Corps does a great job of preparing the material to teach to the kids. The material is flexible, so it is easy to select the stuff that you think the group will like. It is really amazing to see the kind of applications that the kids develop.

TECHie Camp was life changing! I had never thought about programming in my life or anything related to movie making. I just was sparked by the idea of being able to make mini movies and games. At first it took a bit before it got super fun! You needed to learn the basics so your character moves right. But then you got to start doing your own videos and games. Sometimes I would be so rapped up in the making of my videos that I wouldn't realize how hungry I was and when lunch time came I would be happy to eat, but I didn't want to go out for recess. Our teachers where really helpful and patient with us and tried to make sure that we got our videos done. I downloaded the computer programming that we used and now my siblings are doing it too. I wish to go again soon or try another subject the next time the camps come around. Beth, 7th grader.

I’m a TECH CORPS volunteer because I want to give back to the next generation and build a pipeline of girls and young women that are excited about technology and want to create and develop tools that we can’t even imagine right now. Getting them excited about technology also keeps me excited, I remember what it felt like to discover how computers work by seeing their faces light up when they have that moment of understanding. I want to keep learning so I can have that moment too. It warms me inside to see their pride in sharing a game they have created in Scratch or a robot built using Mindstorms. Their sense of accomplishment is mine as well. I had a hand in giving that girl a positive experience that might spark an interest in an area she might not have otherwise explored. That’s why I keep doing what I do year after year!
