TAMPA AREA MARINE PARENTS ASSOCIATION INC

I joined this organization after my son joined the Marines. I had no idea what this new thing "The Marines" was about. The people in the group were helpful in sharing their knowledge and expeiences to put my mind at ease. When my son was deployed to Afghanistan all I had to do was ask and they were there to talk or cry with me. When he was hurt in an IED blast the first person I thought to call was a member of TAMPA. Again they were there for me. This is truly a support system for service family members. My son has left the Marines, but I can never leave this group or the people who have become my friends. I joined for personal reasons, but I stay to now give back to other members and to our troops.

As a coordinator of patriotic programs for a national organization I have found TAMPA to be extremely focused. It consistently provides tangible assistance to not only Marines, but other service members, veterans and their families. I have been a Marine mom now for 10 months. I have found such support from this organazation. Of course with the war going on in Afghanistan and what is happening is our world today, I am proud that my son chose to serve his country, but I feel as though I have been on an emotional roller coaster...the members and ladies heading up Tampa Area Marine Parents have been a God sent. Not only have they provided much needed support emotionally, they do so much for the families and Marines. I went to a meeting were we helped pack care packages..I am still learning about all the different areas I can help and be a part in letting our troops know how so very much they are supported here at home. I'm not much of a writer, but wanted to say something in suport of this wonderful group and the people that are a part of it.
