I have been involved with Swan Center Outreach for over 25 years. I can only share that it has truly changed my life. To see the look on the little children's faces when they interact with our precious animals is priceless. Learning about myself through the animals has been an amazing experience. The animals have such a way of reflecting what we have going on and they are an incredible mirror for us to learn about ourselves. I wish everyone could have the gift of coming to Swan Center Outreach!

I have loved and been uplifted by Swan Center Outreach and it's programs for many years. Seeing the transformations in the eyes of the children and adults who participate is so rewarding. None more so than the transformation in my own daughter after her first visit to the ranch.
Autism, as
most of you know takes many forms, for my daughter, central audio processing disorder robs her of the confidence and self assuredness that most children enjoy. Overcoming her fears and countering them with positive experiences is a part of our daily lives. We are always looking for leverage to lift those walls of doubt and move forward. Enter...Thunder the Magnificent and Rose and John Longhill, co-founders of Swan Center Outreach.
Within moments of arriving, Callie Rose was no longer clinging to my arm and hiding behind me, she had shared apples with the minis and was talking to them as if they were old friends. Shortly thereafter, Thunder entered the arena, a rescued polo pony with a kind nature but an occasional stubborn streak. After careful and loving instruction, Callie Rose mounted and was holding the reins. In no time, she was riding, on her own, making turns and smiling. "Can we go faster Mom?" I can't begin to tell you the shift that made in our hearts.
After thanking Thunder for her ride, sharing an apple and leading him to the pasture Callie Rose walked across the paddock happy and self confident. It was a milestone and the leverage we have since used to encourage other great strides. If you can ride a horse, then there are other great things you can do as well, agreed?
I attribute these transformational experiences to the safe, loving environment at Swan Center Outreach and the masterful tutelage of the founders and others who understand the importance of uplifting a child. And, of course, to Thunder the Magnificent.

Participants will find The Mission Statement of Swan Center Outreach to be an understatement to the vital experiences they can receive through Swan Center Outreach Activities and Programs. The true value, facilitated by the directors and expressed through the animals is the incalculable value of making a connection.

Personal transformation occurs daily. All beings (human included) are encouraged to thrive and grow through natural expression and exploration. The rescued become the rescuers. The experience of unconditional love and acceptance is a rare and beautiful thing, one that must always be acknowledged and expanded. Join me in supporting Swan Center Outreach, just for the love of it.

I cherish my times spent volunteering and participating. Witnessing transformation is an humbling and rewarding experience. The joy and fun I carry in my heart. My niece and nephews still remember the names of the horses they rode on their Jingle Bell Ride in 1993.

I would like to see Swan Center Outreach nationally recognized for it's longtime contribution to scouting. As a Girl Scout Leader this organization is the embodiment of the Promise and the Law we strive to uphold.

Witnessing the powerful, positive transformations so many children, young adults and adults have experienced over the years at the Swan Center Outreach ranch is much greater than words can describe. The smiles, laughter, happiness and joy so many gain from just one visit to the ranch is a sight to behold, and certainly touches my heart.

I would like to personally thank every volunteer for all their support!!

For over 20 years, there is nothing more rewarding than experiencing the children served at Swan Center Outreach (SCO) light up with courage, happiness and a new found confidence in their own abilities. The leadership classes taught at SCO are designed to bring out the most positive attributes in everyone served. They walk away with skills that naturally apply to everyday life, as well as solid evidence they can easily achieve whatever they desire in life, as long as they’re willing to do the necessary work. The adults who participate in these programs often say they wish they had know about these skills when they were young, and they’re going to apply them into their everyday life now. Everyone wins at SCO, and the smiles and joy are abundant.

My first introduction to the Swan Center Outreach happened in 1989. It was a very tumultuous time in my life. The Swan Center Outreach serves as a sanctuary and rehabilitation haven for abused and neglected horses/animals. By better understanding the nature of horses and witnessing the kind of loving care they experience at the Swan Center, I have come to know myself. The 40 horses that reside at the Center have been my teachers, healers and friends. It seemed that I was the one who would be caring for them, but it was they who taught me how to be more aware of my behavior, kinder, compassionate, patient and sensitive. At times of great sadness, they mended my heart. When I needed an ear, they always listened. They instilled confidence when I was unsure. In essence, they have helped me become a better "human."

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Improving my relationships with people and animals. Have a better understanding of how we all interact with one another in either a positive or negative way. And how being around horses assisted me in changing and or improving my behavior.

I have seen and been physically part of the programs that put horses and children from all backgrounds however painful their past may have been, together. When you see the magic that happens, the healing, the joy of these encounters it is "felt" in your heart as much as it is observed. I have seen the look in a child's eyes mixed with a big grin on their face when they have broken through a fear, because of the loving partnership with a horse, and realized that I had witnessed their whole life changing for the better. This happens every single day at Swan Center's camps and classes. Words really cannot explain because there simply are not words to do so. The only words that describe Swan Center Outreach programs are; Love in Action.

Although I am presently a Board Member, I began as one of the many volunteers for the Swan Center Outreach and was fortunate enough for ten years to be active in programs with the children and horses . That's when the magic happens, that's when horses who had been starved, beaten and abandoned, then rehabilitated with love, care and kindness, meet with children who had suffered through many of the same abuses.Everyone involved, or who have taken part in the Swan Center's programs may eventually leave the area but they are forever changed individuals. Children are taught how very special they are and leave with that gift firmly planted in their hearts to last their lifetime. The programs at the Swan Center are educational, stressing the connection between humans and all animals. They are fun and filled with love for all who participate. It is a gift to be a part of this facility and to see the miracles that happen between children, adults and horses.

What a privilege it is to be a part of Swan Center Outreach which affects so many in such a positive and healing way. When you read their Mission Statement and the programs offered you'll understand the depth of their commitment to excellence in working with people of all ages. I have seen the changes on the faces of the children as they reach potential they were not even aware they had. Joy is a beautiful thing to see on the faces of children and it is seen every day at Swan Center Outreach.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Seeing children's confidence in themselves grow with the loving direction they all receive.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

See that it was known all over the world so many could share in this experience.
