Sustainable Travel International has been an invaluable partner to Travel Oregon on numerous fronts by providing us with quality information on the sustainable/green travel market, serving as an advisor on our front-line sustainability initiatives, providing administrative support on large-scale, collaborative projects to foster sustainable development in the Northwest, and by speaking at opportune engagements to further our industry's knowledge of sustainable travel. STI's staff is knowledgeable and professional and they have a great sense of adaptability to ensure that they're meeting the client where the client is at and moving forward from there.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

booking my last airline ticket on Continental Airlines. I had the option of purchasing carbon offsets through STI at the point of purchase. Very convenient!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

develop capacity to consult with a wide-range of destinations on how to assess themselves and create an ultimate sustainable tourism destinations.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the opportunity to work together to develop new programs and new ideas that further both of our interests.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

intelligent, creative, hard-working, and down-to-earth.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Develop an effective online global marketplace for sustainable travel offerings; hire enough staff to ensure that burnout doesn't occur; and grow staff in key developing locations like China.

Ways to make it better...

we had more opportunities to meet and work together face-to-face.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

the lack of the traveler's willingness to pay for carbon offsets and pay more for green travel options in this recession.

One thing I'd also say is that...

STI is a shining example of successful social entrepreneurship.

STI are playing a key role in building global awareness of the importance & benefits of sustainable approaches to tourism development in all forms of economies, ranging from developing to the developed. I have found them a 'user friendly' provider of services.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Evolving global initiatives to make all forms of tourism more sustainable

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do much of what they are now doing

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The user-friendliness of their people, products and systems

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Professional, committed, cooperative.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Make a real impact all over the world to encourage more businesses, communities & desitnations to push forward on sustainable tourism practices

Ways to make it better...

I had more resources to participate in some of their international training programs

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Finding sustainable revenue streams from their not-for-profit activities

One thing I'd also say is that...

The STI folks should be supported by any agency that wants to see more sustainable business practices being used around the world

A wonderful non-profit! Sustainable Travel International challenged my travel business to go beyond our comfort zone and thoroughly explore what it means to be holistically sustainable. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable about their field.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the STEP certification program.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

try to employ more staff. STI takes on a lot of projects but doesn't always have enough time to thoroughly take them all on.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

that it challenged my business to become as sustainable as we can be.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

extremely friendly, worldly, helpful and knowledgeable about their field.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the world even more than it already is!

Ways to make it better...

the program had been a bit more user friendly. (the STEP program has recently been adjusted to become more user friendly).

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

raising enough money to support their many projects.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Sustainable Travel International will definitely see a lot of success in the coming years.

These guys are fighting the good fight to protect culturally and ecologically unique travel destinations. I was able to donate a portion of my flight cost to carbon offsets and found an eco-conscious guide at my destination. Top notch!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

their dedication to the cause of sustainability in travel and travel destinations.
