Never donate to this charity. My mother suffered for years with cancer and we did our best to get help of any kind. However the administration is fat and happy with their 6 figure+ incomes and so are the pharmaceutical companies. Look at the numbers! How far do you think the money that actually made it into medical research industry went last year? A month of equipment leasing and perhaps some towards facilities? If you feel you must donate, do so for educating people about the dangers of fast food and processed food. A good diet reduces cancer risks... period. Why not help prevent instead of lining the pockets of those causing the problem and those profiting from the aftermath. Our country is suffering and the farmers that were growing healthy foods are losing their homes and land to the factory farms for corporations. Entire forests and native tribes have been destroyed or displaced for the McFood type industry. The conditions are so horrible they can't even raise the livestock in this country. The garbage and waste generated in production and sales of said food OUTWEIGHS THE "FOOD" PRODUCT 4 to 1! Put down you cell phones and think people. Look around at all the kids in today's society. Something must be done.

As I always done in the past, I have donated to Kid's in distress, The Susan B Komen Foundation, because in the past they always have done a excellent job providing the the people that need the care the most. I will still give to Kid's in Distress, but from now on, the Susan B Komen, will not give another dime of my Money, when they let politic or their own personal view play a role to what they are going to do with the money that is donated to their charity, especially when you donate and you know what causes you are donating to, and then they change it in midstream. Guess what, they money coming in will stop, just like mine will. And the money some of the people are making in the organization, is ridiculous, I will choose my charities more wisely in the future.

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

It's one of the leading causes of death in women, and I have a few friends diagnosed with this disease

Why did you make your donation at this time?

I Didn't, last one I made was through United Way, but that will never happen AGAIN

What would you tell others about this organization?

Yes, tell them to stay away from this organization, and if they want to donate, send it to Planned Parenthood.

I will never again give them money. They refuse to acknowledge the overwhelming medical research that proves the link between breast cancer and abortion. They continue to allow planned parenthood federation (PPF) to use them as a smoke screen to misinform people into thinking PPF does mammograms and breast screenings when they are primarily a billion dollar abortion industry.

$60M in admin and fund raising out of $300M seems very top heavy to me. The bigger the more cloudy where the money goes. How about some details on where all the $600M has gone? How are we doing on the cure? The cause is solid, not sure about the agency.

Strange that the Charity Navigator rating also indicates that Ms. Brinker is not compensated as CEO, yet a recent report (2/13/12) from The Daily Beast states she earns $ 400K plus there are questionable expense reimbursements from 2007 - 2009 of over $ 133K for speech writing expenses, certain travel and office costs during a time that she was a "federal employee" serving as Chief of Protocol at the State Department. According to this report , "At the Komen foundation, as the chief executive officer and founder, Brinker is approved for first-class travel, according to the foundation’s tax records. . . Says one former employee: “How many mammograms could you buy for those first-class tickets?”

Wow, tough spot you are in. You've manage to anger both womens' reproductive rights advocates, as well as the nutbars that think they can tell another human being what to do with her body. The resignation of Nancy Brinker is the only way to salvage this thing.

Well you must decide what sorts of organizations you wish to get in bed with. By your recent decision to re-up with Planned Parenthood, you've decided to get in bed with perhaps the most execrable, disgusting, wicked organization on the planet, one that killed nearly 400,000 unborn children last year. You've taken my last donation to your organization. Good luck with that.

"29 out ot 38 worldwide epidemiological studies show an increased
risk of breat cancer of approximately 30% among women who have had an abortion"
In 1986, government scientists wrote a letter to the British journal Lancet and acknowledged that abortion is a cause of breast cancer. They
wrote, "Induced abortion before first term pregnancy increases the risk of breast cancer." (Lancet, 2/22/86, p. 436)
As of 2006, eight medical organizations recognize that abortion raises a woman's risk for breast cancer, independently of the risk of delaying the birth of a first child (a secondary effect that all experts already acknowledge). Please answer this: Why would the largest fundraiser for a Breast Cancer cure fund the largest provider of abortions - one of the most significant causes of the same disease they are seeking to cure?

I have been a long-term supporter of your organization, out of respect for the bravery my grandmother showed in confronting and overcoming breast cancer. She remained positive and believed in her ability to overcome this horrible disease, just like countless other breast cancer survivors -- but also like those who fought the good fight only to courageously lose it. What you have done is a dishonor to each and every one of these individuals. You allowed an important mission to be railroaded by what appears to be one person's political agenda. In doing that, you politicized and compromised your mission. Until I see evidence of better judgment, sound business practices, and a sincere commitment to eradicating breast cancer, I can no longer support you. This was not a decision I made lightly.
