I had a wonderful time in the R.E.A.D. program with my pet partner Ruffin. The Children loved Reading to this Giant Newfoundland and even used him as a pillow. He loved it, I loved it and the kids loved it. Win, win, win. Claire was such a wonderful volunteer coordinator. Plus the shelter was always spotless, and the staff was always over the top friendly and helpful.
I look forward to volunteering at the shelter every Friday morning, helping to take of the cats. We brush them and play with them and it is wonderful when we see them find their forever homes.
My husband and I lost our family Dog several years ago and decided that since we wanted to travel it was unfair to have another pet in our house. But both of us being dog lovers we had to find a way to have them in our lives.
In comes the Suncoast Humane Society. Through their organization we became foster parents to medically challenge dogs. We prefer to have the large breeds and have been very fortunate to have Scottie, Honey, Abby, Cheyenne and Cinnamon in our lives so far. The staff and other volunteers have been so very helpful to us and we can just imagine what the animals think.
Keep up the good work.
I volunteer at a rescue in northern Indiana and wanted to do the same here in Florida. I became a "dog walker" and love to see these sweet animals get the love and attention that gain them a new "forever" home. I continue to be impressed with this organization.
I have adopted kitty's and dogs from Suncoast! Now I volunteer with them and love what I do there, and the staff is so dedicated to getting these animals adopted into good homes. The shelter is clean and the fur baby's are so loved by not only the staff, but all of the wonderful volunteers who give selflessly of their time to help these animals to acclimate to a human touch!
When my cat passed away and I came in to donate items, they were just wonderful. They asked me about my pet and were very kind. When I send a donation, I receive a personal letter of thanks. They help hundreds of animals and are a real asset to the community.
Have volunteer at Suncoast and the operation goes beyond to help animals find their forever homes. The staff is excellent and helpful thank goodness we have this shelter in our growing community.
I have been a volunteer in the past and can attest to the dedication Suncoast Humane Society has to animals. It is much needed and wonderful organization in our community.
I have been a foster volunteer, adopter and brought lost animals to Suncoast..
In all three areas, I have been treated w/respect,kindness and knowledge..
I raise grandchildren and they have helped w/fostering of cats and many kittens.
Suncoast vet and assistants treat them w/the same attention given me. In return,
the boys have learned many lessons, love all animals and have shown their friends
how to properly care for sick/lost or abandoned animals..
Most of what I can say is a repetition of all the good things already written, so I'd like to say something about the pet adoption events Suncoast has hosted at the Pet Supermarket in Englewood. The staff and volunteers who handled the animals brought to the event were great. Dogs were walked,on leashes through the aisles of the store and surrounding area, and helped to behave like perfect ladies/gentlemen.
I witnessed a number of adoptions take place, with great attention given to the matches being made.
I've seen adoption events where a handful of animals were held in a ring and the handlers were bored and yawning and chatting to each other and the Suncoast events were nothing like that.
