I enjoy being a volunteer to such a wonderful organization. The organization is well managed and takes expert care of all the animals. You can always depend on adopting an animal that has been well taken care of while in their care.

The management at Suncoast Humane is top-notch and very innovative in their approach to running the facility and fund-raising. I really appreciate how affordable the adoption fees and animal vaccinations are. It really helps potential adopters. It's a wonderful place to volunteer. I love being around others who care so much about animal welfare.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
build a bigger facility.
Ways to make it better...

money, of course.

About 4 years ago, one of my kitties went unexpectedly over the rainbow bridge. A few months later, we had room in our home and hearts for another rescue kitty. We searched Suncoast's website and saw a beautiful medium haired, persian/siamese color kitten with blue eyes and plume tail! When we inquired about her, we were told she was being treated in a foster home for a respiratory illness and wouldn't be ready for adoption for a few days. When she became available, I traveled two hours to meet her at a volunteer's home. The Foster Mom, Kathy, brought her over and it was love at first site. Our new baby Pahio was welcomed into the family and has even been a "kitty of the month" in the Suncoast Annual calender. Suncoast does good things for the animals and all the people I've come in contact with there have been fantastic. They care about the animals!!!

I previously was a dog walker but had to change into a job a little easier. All the people at the shelter are very caring and loving toward all the animals in their care. I support any and all of their fundraising efforts. I recently adopted a dog last month and am very happy with my choice. He is a wonderful happy dog and loves us as much as we love him. He deserved a good home and Suncoast Humane Society were very helpful with the adoption

They take good care of all the animals
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
All pet lovers. You have to be a pet lover to volunteer there, thats the reason I volunteer
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Build a state of the art medical center for all the animals and air conditioned kennels. Buy a new mobil bus for off site animal care.
Ways to make it better...
They are not wasteful with the funds they receive. Money is spent for much needed things.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Getting enough money from grants and donations.
One thing I'd also say is that...
It's a great non profit organization and deserving of all the donations they receive. They get 100% of everything there are no fund raising fees involved by professional funraisers

Suncoast Humane Society, Englewood, Florida is one of the last truely open door facilities. They do not restrict the animals that they take in. They do not only take the animals that can be adopted right away. They take "ALL" of the animals brought to them, unlike others in the area. They are one of the last hopes for the elderly or for those who have lost their jobs who want to keep their pets. They provide food for the local residents through their food pantry program which works with Meals on Wheels. They also sponsor low cost spay.neuter programs in the local community to help keep the pet population down. They are truely a great organization. Thanks for letting me repond.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
their effort to educate the community in the real tough world of being a homeless animal.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
exceptional. Dedicated, truely caring individuals.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help the community more. More education, more lowcost spay/neuters, more care for unwanted animals, more support for the low income individuals down on their luck,
Ways to make it better...
I personnaly can't think of a thing. I just wish I could do more for them so they could do more for others.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
education for the community. If everyone would realise that animals need the same care as individual's and are not something that you drop off at the corner and drive away. The other is money for day to day operations.
