Over many years now I have adopted 6 dogs from the Suncoast Humane society. Each dog has lived with me as an integral part of my world. The staff there have always been outstanding from the adoption counselors to all the kennel help, and front end staff. I have always tried to be an advocate and help raise donations for the shelter. They are always most appreciative of all help they receive and always appear to use all funds in the best interest of the animals they serve. The staff do an outstanding job trying to match up human/animal forever bonds. I have had one of my six dogs for 14 years now. He is a dog that no one seemed to want to adopt, he is the most gentle giant and the kindest of hearts. I don't know how much longer he will be with me do to his advanced age, but I have cherished his companionship and love, and in his eventual passing will look to reach out the shelter again for another gentle soul to rescue.

I first came to the humane society 10 years ago when adopting my dog. They have the most caring staff and are always so friendly. They truly care about the safety of the animals. 4 years ago I went back and adopted another dog. Then just recently I found my 3rd dog on a highway. She needed medical attention and had heart worm. The humane society provided us with a cheaper alternative then whAt the vet suggested and after 6 months we went back to them for testing and our baby was heart worm free. I get my heart worm meds for all my dogs from them and I would recommend them to anyone for an adoption or there medical services.

I can't say enough about Suncoast Humane Society. They have been here in our community for many years, through thick and thin, and have supported us through all kinds of difficult times. I have adopted dogs and cats, volunteered, and supported the local outings. The animals I have adopted were well cared for and I know in the future I will adopt again from them.

Suncoast Humane Society, Englewood, Florida is one of the last truely open door facilities. They do not restrict the animals that they take in. They do not only take the animals that can be adopted right away. They take "ALL" of the animals brought to them, unlike others in the area. They are one of the last hopes for the elderly or for those who have lost their jobs who want to keep their pets. They provide food for the local residents through their food pantry program which works with Meals on Wheels. They also sponsor low cost spay.neuter programs in the local community to help keep the pet population down. They are truely a great organization. Thanks for letting me repond.
The Great!
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
working with their offsite programs to help get animals adopted.
Ways to make it better...
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
give them all the money I could.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
their effort to educate the community in the real tough world of being a homeless animal.
The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...
exceptional. Dedicated, truely caring individuals.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
help the community more. More education, more lowcost spay/neuters, more care for unwanted animals, more support for the low income individuals down on their luck,
Ways to make it better...
I personnaly can't think of a thing. I just wish I could do more for them so they could do more for others.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
education for the community. If everyone would realise that animals need the same care as individual's and are not something that you drop off at the corner and drive away. The other is money for day to day operations.

I am a volunteer at Suncoast Humane Society and what a pleasure it is. The staff clearly cares deeply about the animals and gives them wonderful care in a difficult environment. I fell in love with a cat, and when she was being adopted on a day when I was not at the shelter, two staff members got in touch with me to be sure I had the chance to say goodby before Sapho went home! Love these guys. Love these animals.

I thoroughly enjoy volunteering at Suncoast Humane Society. The staff is the most caring group I have ever worked with. Their love of the animals is shown in so many ways and I look forward to volunteering there for years to come.

I can't say enough about the outstanding team of animal care professionals at Suncoast Humane Society. We recently adopted a dog that had gotten a bum rap from an earlier adoption experience. Not knowing what we might be getting into, several team members stepped up to give encouragement and support to make sure our home was going to be his forever home. Their dedication to caring for homeless animals while providing a valuable community service makes Suncoast Humane Society very worthy of your support!

every time we visit the shelter it is always clean and doesn't smell. It's very obvious that all of the animals are very well taken care of, which isn't an easy task with the large volume of cats & dogs. I also like the fact that I can go in and visit with the cats, and it's encouraged and not frowned upon.

I have had the privilege of serving on many boards over the course of a lifetime. Suncoast Humane Society proved to be among the top tier for clarity of mission, dedication to cause, financial responsibility, and professionalism. Staff members are dedicated, competent, hard-working. Volunteers are as committed as any high-paid staffer would be. And importantly, board members are selected to make a difference, not to make a name for themselves. Be comfortable that your donation to Suncoast , whether time or money, will find its way to the many companion animals and the community the shelter serves.

Since I grew up "pet-less" I spent lots of time when possible visiting shelters and pet stores so I know a good one when I see it. These people are ALL so caring and loving and will do anything for the animals. My family and I have Suncoast Alumni pets and couldn't be happier. This organization does a lot to get their shelter out there and to raise money - lots of creative ideas. I found donating a pet bed in honor of a deceased friend was very rewarding. I love these folks and their animals!

As a volunteer dogwalker I have had the supreme honor of spending time with the wonderful animals within the care Suncoast Humane Society. The environment at the humane society is so positive, the staff committment is exemplary, and the animals are in the best place possible until the loving staff are able to help find them a forever home:)
