SCA offers free services, including spay and neutering, to people who care for feral cats throughout the city of Los Angeles. They also try to find homes for cats and kittens. Spaying/neutering feral cat colonies helps reduce the number of unwanted cats born into the city each year. SCA offers vital and much needed services. I support SCA because they go above and beyond to help ensure cats are taken care of!

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

their outreach booths, adoption events and spay day clinics. SCA is highly professional and organized. SCA has a devoted staff of volunteers.

As a volunteer for Stray Cat Alliance I rent cat traps for their Trap Neuter Return Program. This program educates the community about free roaming cats, most of who have been turn out of their homes, about the importance of spay and neuter. The rental is free and we require a small deposit that is returned when the trap is returned. In addition, I volunteer and a small sanctuary where we have about 30 cats that where saved from a hoarding situation. We provide safe living quarters, good food and medical care. All this is paid for by public support.

I always say - Stray Cat Alliance says "yes" when other groups don't even return the call. SCA has managed situations at commercial and private locations that other groups simply cannot. Through the guidance of Christi Metropole and other staff members, lives of innocent animals have been saved AND humans have had their minds changed and hearts opened to become compassionate and tolerant of stray/feral cats. SCA has an effective program of offering humane traps, education and resources to the public and for spay/neuter ("S/N").

I've been a member of this wonderful organization for over five years, both as a volunteer and former staff member. Thanks to the resources of this organization, I was able to assist countless people with saving cats' lives in their neighborhoods, giving them financial aid, spay and neuter vouchers and access to free traps. As a staffer, I was only as strong as the support I received from Christi Metropole, the Executive Director of the organization, and other. Christi was always available to consult and problem-solve. Stray Cat Alliance fills a very unique niche as a premier rescue cat organization in Los Angeles. Other cats provide adoptions, but no one else performs trap-neuter-return on such a large scale, to spare countless cats from death in the pounds and on the streets. I'm grateful to have had this opportunity.

I heard kittens under the house and didn't know what to do. I contacted SCA and Carole walked me through trapping, spaying and returning them to my yard. We must have shared 20 emails by time I felt comforable enough to get the job done. They were so patient and supportive. I used one of their free spay clinics. It was great to come into contact with an organization that had my same goals. SCA is truly beneficial to the community.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

everyone is working toward the same goal. Help the feral cat population, educate the public and adoptions.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Patient with the uninformed, full of first hand cat knowledge, helpful and cheerful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

share the knowledge about TNR and offer free spay clinics.

This is an organization of dedicated individuals who are truly putting their time and effort where their beliefs are by helping feral and non-feral cats to be safe, adopted and/or protected. I am proud to be associated with Stray Cat Alliance!

The Stray Cat Alliance is all about improving the quality of lives for stray and feral cats. As strong advocates and supporters of Trap Neuter Release (TNR), uncontrolled reproduction is kept at check, and those cats that are altered are healthier and less prone to disease. For cats that need homes, SCA plays an important role in finding foster and/or forever homes. Recently with the challenges of the economy and a poorly thought-out scheme by another organization, SCA has been in the forefront to ensure that these four-legged victims receive the care and treatment that is so owed to them.

SCA has served as a great resource in guiding me in my goal to alter and care for the stray and feral cats where I live and work. By adding some constant nutrition these cats flourish in an amazing way.

The Stray Cat Alliance educates, find cats homes, and gets involved with issues that help both the public and the cats. We need more organizations like this one. There are so many stray and hurt cats in Los Angeles alone that need help. This organizations try to make a dent and although the problem is overwhelming, they are the foot soliders trying to make a difference.

Find animals home, educate the public on animal welfare, and save sick animals.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Lack of money and the constant growing of srtay cats.

One thing I'd also say is that...

If you save one animals life, you a re an angel.

Stray Cat Alliance provides information and help about trap/neuter/return of stray cats. This is a more effective and humane way to control the overpopulation of stray cats.

Stray Cat Alliance has provided me with help, support and information. Because of them I was able to learn about TNR (trap/neuter/return) and with their help I was able to sterilize a colony of cats in my neighborhood.

I've learned so much from these dedicated, hard working people. They will network with other groups as well so the resources, advice, chances of finding homes are multiplied.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Countless ways. They're always there for advice on all aspects of every issue relating to animal rescue. Including Loaning traps for TNR, food donations, transportation, low cost or free spay/neuter,shots, microchipping, meds., etc.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Get more volunteers so no cat will ever have to go hungry, or be un-altered and left to cause unwanted births.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

The great information and help they provide, and watching them be successful in helping so many cats live happy lives free from cruelty, hunger, and neglect. Seeing their dedication, and determination to work hard for the innocent, helpless lives.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Intelligent, helpful, caring, resourceful.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Stop the needless, cruel murdering of innocent cats & dogs in the pounds, in other countries as well. Helping to pass a law requiring spay/neuter of all cats. By providing even more free spay/neuter, and educating the masses.

Ways to make it better...

If we could stop the murdering of cats and dogs in the pounds.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

The people that resist a law requiring spay/neuter of your cats. And more funding is always needed.

One thing I'd also say is that...

Once cats are not breeding unabated, the far fewer number of dogs that are put to death in pounds will also stop. There are 5 times more cats put to death than dogs.
