I have been in awe since first starting to work with this organization - first as a volunteer linked to the first "Race to Stop the Silence" to my present role as chair of the Board of Directors. The drive, commitment and compassion of all who work with this organization - from its founder, Dr. Pamela Pine, to volunteers and experts at events, is something I have rarely seen in non-profit work. Stop the Silence has helped to create a save space for survivors of child sexual abuse to find voice and comfort as well as be a critical resource to advance public understanding and institutional commitment and response to mitigate the harmful impacts of such abuse. Having worked on the inside, as a board member, I have also been aware of how much has been done with few financial resources - again inspired by the commitment and dedication of all who become involved with STS.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

the emotional responses of survivors who have first come to terms and/or shared there experiences after having attended an event sponsored by STS. You cannot help but be moved.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

continue to reinforce its funding base so that it can reach even more people and move forward its efforts to a world where No children suffer sexual abuse.

I first worked with Stop the Silence while President of another child protection non-profit and was immediately impressed with the quality of programming and zeal this organization possesses. It developed a remarkable resource for judges to help educate them on child abuse and the law. More recently it has found new and creative ways to engage people in the cause and of course continues to put on the Race to Stop the Silence.

During my role as president of another non-profit organization that worked to prevent the sexual abuse of children, I learned first-hand how effective Stop the Silence had been. In particular with the creation of the resource for the judiciary.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Work to raise more money to add staff and expand the reach of the organization.

I was amazed at the impact Stop the Silence Stop Child Sexual Abuse had on me when I saw the play, "To Kill A Kelpie". This is such important work that needs to be done on a large scale, and this could be an excellent vehicle to do just that. After the play, Pam conducted a discussion that was immensely powerful. Several survivors spoke, one I am certain for the first time publicly. Very powerful.

I am also involved in another group trying to bring light to this sadly secret problem and am shocked at the depth and complexity of this problem. I am also amazed at the lack of awareness on behalf of the general public.

I cannot believe we allow our children to suffer in silence while this horror continues. This issue desperately needs to reach every adult so we can protect our precious children.

As I mentioned above, the discussion at the end of the play was intense. It is a conversation that needs to take place, regardless of the discomfort it causes. I really feel everyone in that theatre was touched by the reality of this situation and left more aware of its prevalence. I dare say those who interact with children left with an entirely new perspective

I would like to find ways to give it more visibility so it can obtain more funding. I have offered to serve on their Board to see what more I can do. This voice needs to be heard.

We hear so many story about children being abused in so many ways that it creates within you a spirit that needs to protect our most valuable assets...our children! Stop the Silence has that spirit. This organization has reached far and wide to do all it can to bring awareness, supply resources and bring together people that share this same spirit. I recently participated in and volunteer for the 5k race. Many people were in attendance. It was a huge success and only spoke volumns of the reach this organization has. I am a board member and proud to serve with such awesome people who have the dedication that is needed to see this organization through.

Not change a thing. Timing is everything. And I truly believe that Pamela is doing her very best in the direction that she is taking this organization.

We, as a country, are fortunate to have the Stop the SIlence organization. Nowhere will you find people that are more passionate about ending child sexual abuse. One of my favorite quotes about this subject is by Gavin DeBecker: "The solution to sexual violence in America is not more laws, more guns, more police, or more prisons. The solution to sexual violence is the acceptance of reality." Stop the Silence is working hard to encourage each one of us to accept the existence of sexual violence and empowering us on how to end it.

I was introduced to Stop the Silence about a year ago and I instantly knew that this was one of the most genuine non-profits I had ever been exposed to. I recently volunteered for the 5k Race to Stop the Silence and it was an awesome event! It gave child sexual abuse survivors the opportunity to share their stories and build a safe platform for others to come out about their experiences is well. While the entire morning was overcast and rainy that did not put a damper on the number of volunteers or participants. Stop the Silence is by far one of the best and most necessary Health non-profits!

Stop the Silence has been providing excellent services and material for many years. In a variety of avenues, advocacy, direct services, policy, education, etc., they have reached thousands of people both nationally and internationally addressing the issue of childhood sexual abuse. I would say that they are among the best in the field.

Stop the silence Stop Child Sexual Abuse is at the forfront of adressing the epidemic of child abuse and the shame that silences some of us survivors for decades. Raising awareness and changing CSA/rape to a talkable subject is the beginning of prevention. Silence protects the perpretrators and binds us to years of torment my own lasted 38 years. How I wish I'd found Pamela Pine back then my whole live would have been different. Her group needs global coverage her mission is that important not just to people like me but everybody needs to help stop the trauma and educate the masses so that so much harm can be prevented. I volunteered in Washington and I can't describe how nice it was for me to meet so many wholesome peole who wanted to make a difference for people like me who have suffered since the age of twelve from being raped. Now that I know someone cares and understands I can too. For the first time in my life I want to live thank goodness my two attempts at suicide failed. Having a group to connect with makes me not only want to live but I am also alive. I still cry when I think about what this group has done for me just by letting me volunteer and see the love that is real that comes out by the activities of Stop the Silence Stop Child Sexual Abuse.

Ways that I could not have imagined even possible. I got my life back after the trauma of being raped when I was twelve now I am 50 and enjoy being alive for the first time ever. My deppression and PTSD are being controled without medications.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

I would change this to a multi national org funded buy mostly Government donations so that time spent fundraising couls be better spent with education and helping individuals grow past their trauma into a healthy person.

I am a victim of child sexual abuse and found my "voice" after 40 years. Stop the Silence/Stop Child Sexual Abuse is an extraordinary "voice" across the globe to help our children: protect them and care for them by providing education, prevention and treatment options for both the abused and the abusers, past, present, future. Most of all, as a Board Member, I serve alongside other dedicated colleagues as an advocate - to embrace the most vulnerable in our midst - our young. Stop the Silence /Stop Child Sexual Abuse will expand and become a greater force on the world stage by having the benefit of more treasure - the generous philanthropy of those able and willing to give precious dollars in these unprecedented times. This organization is a "voice" , without question, that must become louder and louder in the years to come. Thank you. Mark Joseph Williams

By finding an organization and people who understand, deeply, the shame I felt for many years having been a victim of child sexual abuse.

By developing more into a "true" paid-staff organization vs. a "grass roots" entity , Stop the Silence/Stop Child Sexual Abuse will have even greater impact on the world stage to help our most vulnerable - our young people - our children - who are sadly sexually abused more than one can even begin to imagine.

I am a strong supporter of this organization because it tackles a very difficult problem that most people don't want to discuss. Their outreach, advocacy, and programs make a real impact for the lives of those served. I am impressed and inspired by their founder, Pam Pine, who works tirelessly to support and defend this plight of humanity.

Provide them the critically important funds to support and expand their programs.
