Starlight offers support programs that far exceed what we are able to do within the hospital. Without Starlight, we would not be able to provide our patients and families with some of the memories that make the challenges of hospitalization fall away. Starlight is an incredible foundtation that never ceases to bring smiles and laughs to the children and families that need it the most. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

As a previous employee of Starlight MidAtlantic, I see it as a black mark on my resume. The organization is EXTREMELY poorly run under the current Executive Director. For an organization who could potentially make a huge difference in lives of children and families, the poor management and use of funds is really a shame. Just look at their 990 online. Maybe new leadership would make a difference, but if I were a child life specialist or pediatric social worker, I would refer families to other programs throughout the region who do the same type of work and do it much better. Providing free tickets to events is great, but is about all Starlight does. Delivers books? Sure, but other organizations do that, too. Provide Fun Centers? Sure, but they're a fortune and hospitals can't afford them. Plus, they don't make sense for the hospital environment, no matter what their pitch is. I wish these children and families would get connected with an alternative organization so they could TRULY be served.

My son, Jared, is 8 years old and has disabilities. He is legally blind, is developmentally delayed, and has cerebral palsy. We got involved with Starlight when he was about 4 years old. Starlight has given our family opportunities to have family fun and shared experiences that we would never have been able to do on our own. We have done so many wonderful things over the past few years like hayrides, sporting events, car shows and car museums, ice shows, the circus. trips to the zoo, plus so much more. The folks at Starlight work extremely hard to put events together. We so look forward to attending their outtings because we know we will have a great time. Every event is so well planned and great for the family. We are so grateful for all that Starlight has done for us. I would encourage everyone who has a "special" child to participate because these events are planned for kids with disabilities and it is their time to shine. It is a nice feeling to know that there are people who care and want these kids to have wonderful opportunities in life.

Starlight is a great nonprofit providing our family a fun distraction from the sickness we deal with everyday with our chronically ill son. He as well as our whole family edure so much with doctor visits, hospital stays, and the daily maintinance of his needs that getting the chance to do something fun as a family when we would not be able to do due to money concerns is just a great blessing to us. They visit my son in the hospital and care a great deal about the kids, they are a wonderfull organization and make dealing with our sick son a little easier with their great programs.

Having a child with complex medical issues, means many days of therapy, specialist appointments and sometimes hospitalizations. Starlight Children's Foundation has given our child and our family a chance to experience some normalcy and make great memories that we otherwise would not have experienced. Their programs have provided our child with the biggest smiles and some of the best times of his life. The programs have also given our family the opportunity to meet other families in similar situations, and we have made lifelong friends. This is an outstanding organization and we are forever grateful for all that they do.

Having a child with severe disability means hours spent in therapy and with doctors and hospitals. Our family has developed a "normal" that typical families can only imagine. Our disabled son sets the tone for our family through his health and schedule. We often avoid family outings due to his specific needs and the financial obligations of his care. Starlight has provided us with events where we can relax and enjoy our time together and be with other families who live our "normal". What an amazing gift to our disabled son and his siblings (who find comfort in knowing there are lots if families like ours out there). What can any parent ask for above the smiles of her children?

From the moment my son was diagnosed with cancer our life has been overflowing with blessings. Blessings such as this one. We were given the opportunity to experience motorcycle ice racing, something we hadn't ever heard about! I can't thank Starlight enough for helping bring a smile to my son's face. He enjoyed this experience so much, next up is monster trucks! =)

Starlight MidAtlantic has given many great opportunities to the patients at the hospital that I work at to have fun and not feel "sick." They have provided patients with tickets to great events, video games, pillow pets, and in hospital parties! They are willing to help out with special requests and are easy to work with.

Starlight Midatlantic has been a wonderful resource for our hospital. Our pediatric patients with long and short term illnesses benefit greatly from the services provided by Starlight Midatlantic. Everything from video games to toys, to supplies for holiday parties to help us celebrate milestones with our patients. We are very greatful for Starlight Midatlantic and the programming that they provide for our families! The staff at Starlight Midatlantic are wonderful! Thank you Starlight for all that you to do!!
We wish there was additional funding for our hospital to have an updated videogame system. :)
