I have had the pleasure of meeting the staff at the Springfield Rescue Mission and have taken a tour of their facilities. I was overwhelmed by how much they care for the people they serve and it was a truly humbling experience. I have been there several times since to make donations of various kinds and every single time I have gone there, no matter what time of day I have always been greeted with a smile and offered help to unload the car. They always say "Thank You" and have a great attitude. I absolutely love going there because there is a feeling of hope and everything they do and teach is centered around God. The Springfield Rescue Mission is actively helping those that most people will walk by and not give a second glance at. I have invited staff and residents from their program into our Church to share their stories and it really touched everyone. This is honestly one of the best non-profit organizations I have had the pleasure of working with.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

I have met residents that have successfully completed the program and have moved on to a more productive and frutiful life.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Do nothing, I think it is amazing the way it is.

I have being donating clothes, goods and money to the Springfield Rescue Mission for over 12 years. My experience with them have being awesome. Not only they are grateful for anything you can provide. They are also very polite and pleasant. When they see me park my car they go out of
there way to help me with my bags. A couple of times when I forget to get my tax deductable paper, I just make one phone call, and within days I receive it in the mail. They have welcome me to see for myself were my donations are going. Something unique compare to other organizations. They also talk to my kids in a friendly cordial way. I have recommend this organization to my friends and family. Since I find them to be genuine and honest in wanting to help those in need. It does not matter the time of day, they always receive me with a smile on there face. This for me is priceless. Since it makes me feel that a to make a difference.

The Mission Statement of the Springfield Rescue Mission "to meet the physical and spiritual needs of the hungry, homeless, addicted, and poor" is definitely what the mission does. The men the mission serves receive help to get back on their feet and become regular contributors to society. SRM truly gives "hope to the hopeless".
Our church has been able to serve alongside the mission through donation drives such as the hope totes and underwear drive. Our church youth have been able to learn about service to the needy by being involved in preparing meals and serving meals at SRM. I am thankful to the Lord for their much needed ministry and I am thankful to be part of it.

I believe the SRM is a well-run, extremely important organization, and I try to make a few donations each year (as well as have my gift matched through my company). One year, as a PTO president, we participated in the "Hope Totes" collection and collected over 1,000 toiletry articles. Kee up the good work that you do!

I have been blessed to be able to serve and assist with meal preparation at the Springfield Rescue Mission. Everyone I have met involved with this program has been kind and grateful. I learn so much every time I go and I am sure I am enriched far beyond my small assistance each time I leave. It is rewarding to be hands on and see the immediate results of my efforts. I have also been fortunate to help a few instances with their Operation Sonshine. My connections to the people have taught me much and I grow in understanding I hope with each visit. The Rescue Mission is quite the busy place with much to do and many hands make the activities fly by with lots of smiles.
I might chop, peal, wash, serve , or whatever needs to be done. None of it is hard and all of it brings me joy.

I think a sitting room for the residents would be a nice place for them to gather.

I work in the office of a local church that donates to the SRM in the form of food, clothing, Hope Totes and cash. We have had folks come and speak during our Worship Services in the past. It is very uplifting to hear how folks have turned their lives around with a little help and guidance from the SRM. They are an excellent organization with strict rules. Rules must be followed by those looking for help. I commend them for holding that bar up!

I am a volunteer at the Springfield Rescue Mission and work the phones for the Meals for the Homeless every year at Thanksgiving. It is a very rewarding experience knowing you are helping people in need. I also donate money, clothing, toiletries on a regular basis, as well as my family. I have been to their Open House and heard testimonials of how the Rescue Mission has helped people get back on track with their lives.
The entire staff their are loving and devoted people and it is a pleasure to work along side them whenever I have the opportunity. We are very lucky to have this organization in our community, and I am thankful for all that they do.

Also helped collect supplies for the backpacks for back to school children who could not afford backpacks & supplies and I work with a dentist who donates toothbrushes and small toothpastes for the hope totes. I have organized Hope Tote collections at work as well.

SRM actually began in the kitchen of Elder Cummings and his wife who always had a pot of food cooking on her stove. Elder Cummings would bring the down and out to their home for nourishment of body and soul. I know this to be a fact because I knew their daughter, Ella Cummings, who told me about her father and mother. And today, SRM still takes care of those in need, be it food for the body or spiritual nourishment. I am pleased to be able to support the Springfield Rescue Mission!

I support the Springfield Rescue Mission because they really work for the people who need their help. I make them a part of my Christmas giving and I'm thankful that they have been able to continue their community work in this little part of the world.
