Spirit Horse has been an amazing experience for my daughter. It has given her confidence in her abilities. Her trainer has been such an encouragement to her and so uplifting. Abby has loved her times and Spirit Horse and looks forward to going each week. I am very thankful for Spirit Horse!!

After taking my daughter(who was poisoned by cyanide), to many countries, I ended up a political refugeein USA, Childrens MC of Dallas. The doctors changed my vegetative girl, gave her hope, and a future. A doctor told me to enroll into SpiritHorse, to gain her strength to sit ,stand, and walk. We enrolled at SpiritHorse and Mr. Charles took extreme care of Natasha, helped her to ride their pony, which was specially trained to be with handicapped kids. After a few weeks my daughter was able to hold her neck, sit on a stool, and do many things, which many doctors told us would be impossible to achieve in herlifetime. Every sunday morning we visit SpiritHorse. We saw our doctor a few months after the SpiritHorse therapy classes and he was delighted with the changes in my daughter. The staff is so helpful ,kind, and we will remain indebted for a lifetime for the dedicated and tireless work. The smiles they have brought to the hopeless families and the disadvantaged kids, who visit the ranch, are beyond anyones comprehension. Nowhere else in the world could you get that care and love for these kids than SpiritHorse. They need your help to brighten up the lives of these kids from the poorest of families. These families could not have had these opportunities, unless SpiritHorse was willing to provide this service free.

My son Abdul Azeem (diagnosed with microcephaly) started his Hippotherapy on Pony when he was around 3 year old at this location.
I do see greate improvement in my son's of leg muscle strenghthing and backbone stiffness after couple of months. This organization really helping kids with specail
needs, these kids learn various technics like leading a horse, following direction, follow commands, etc. I strongly recommend special needs families to visit this organization , get the services and see the changes of their loved special needs in their daily living.

A success story: Nadia is a beautiful 3 ½ year old girl who was born in Russia. Born without arms and with her right leg two inches shorter than her left. She was adopted by an American couple who had that special love that is so important in adopting a child with special needs. Nadia started equine-assisted therapy at SpiritHorse in the Fall 2005 session. She has learned to walk at SpiritHorse, leading her pony Snowflake independently. Imagine the difficulty of leaning to walk without arms and with one short leg! We place Snowflake’s lead rope over Nadia’s shoulder and she holds it with her chin. Since she has extreme difficulty walking, she must take one step and regain her balance. Without any training from us, Snowflake takes a single step and waits for Nadia to take another. Nadia brushes Snowflake by having the brush strapped to her foot. We also attached Snowflake’s reins to a safety vest and Nadia has learned to turn her by twisting her shoulders and stop her by leaning back. You should see the sparkle in Nadia’s eyes as she controls her pony! We believe in our children.

The Great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

serving over 400 children with disabilities each week.

Ways to make it better...

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Find a way to raise more funds. Our services are free of charge and we have a significant task in meeting our needs.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

Healing of so many children with disabilities. We have 387 graduates.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

Loving and friendly

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

Expand its worlwide service to include 100,000 children with disabilities. We have ceners worldwide and we are training instructors this summer in Mexico, the Czech Republic, and South Africa.

Ways to make it better...

Couldn't be better

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

funding

One thing I'd also say is that...

We continue to develop award-winning methods and train instructors worldwide.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
