Mission: Dedicated to empowering persons with disabilities of all ages to reach their highest level of achievement and to advocate for systems change that results in access, choice, equality, inclusion, and independence for all people with disabilities.
Programs: The foundation of the organization is based on the four core services of : individual and systems advocacy, peer support, independent living skills, and information and referral. Around the core foundation we have built a full range of independent living support services that promote the organization's mission to accomplish both individual and systems change by creating an environment where opportunities exist for individuals with disabilities to maximize their individual and group potential. We accomplish this by recruiting and training individuals with disabilities to serve on boards, committees, alliances, and coalitions to influence disability policy.
workforce development: the advocates provide intensive peer support and advocacy to the students, helping them address any obstacle to completion of their vocational education program and linking them to community resources. One to one tutoring is provided by certified tutors to students who need to improve their basic academic skills.
fee for service: for those who graduated with a special diploma or a certificate of attendance and do not know where to go next, the center offers adult educational classes for the g. E. D exam. Participants also enjoy field trips to parks, beaches, malls, and sporting events as part of the program. When they pass the g. E. D. , the center's staff shows them how to enroll in a vocational school or college, or help them find employment. Increasingly, businesses, nonprofits, employers, and government agencies are turning to the cil for our assistance, services, and advice. We are widely acknowledged experts in serving people with disabilities and in enhancing compliance with the americans with disabilities act and other federal civil rights laws prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability. The organization helps to attract customers with disabilities, who have money to spend, as well as assists in attracting and accomodating employees with disabilities, to diversify your workforce.
