Songs of Love Foundation

I met one of the musicians who played on the songs for sick children in when I was at the cable tv store in mid-town Manhattan. My son Ian was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma at 17 and was being treated at the time so the charity resonated with me. Knowing first hand what children go through when they are really sick and how Songs for Love had the potential to put a smile back on their faces, I just had to donate. The reason why John Beltzer set up the organization is also extremely moving. it still is one of my favorite charities.

We first learned about the Songs of Love foundation thru the Montifiore childrens Hospital in the Bronx, NY. Our daughter Britney had a kidney biopsy and the results revealed she has kidney desease. Her bone marrow had shut down and the situation became critical for us. That has got to be the darkest time in our lifes. Our little girl 12 years old was so swallen from meds our family and friends didn't even recognized her. By the grace of God thru a miracle our daughter recovered. The songs of love foundation wrote her a song. Still weak she would always smile when she heard her song playing. Now in remission and 13 years old she is raising money to introduce the songs of love foundation to the sick children in Puerto Rico where we now live. She needs to raise about $5,000.00. So far she has raised a little over $1000.00. I asked her why is this so important to her and she said she wants other sick children to experience something happy at a time when they are so afraid of the unknown like she was. The song made her smile alot and returned her self esteem. I am so grateful to them for the ray of light they brought us at such a dark time that I became a music messenger for them. The SONG of LOVE makes so manny sad hearts smile including the family and friends of the sick child. we as a family are grateful to them and we could only wish they really knew the impact they have on so many lifes.

I have worked with songs of love for about 5 years now and have seen it grow to help more families. Songs of Love has some of the most compassionate hard working people I know. I have recieved many letters and pictures from the children I have written songs for over the years. When I get the letter and read there words it makes me feel like I am actually a part of helping others. The letters and pictures really let you know how much Songs Of Love means to the family. It is a priviledge to work with such a wonderful organization.

Children in my hospital in Japan enjoyed the whole process with Songs of Love, filling in the application in English, thinking about what kind of songs they like, getting a stamp for an international mail, and receiving a CD from oversea! They were so excited to have their own songs in Japanese from another country. It was great to see their smiles with Songs of Love!

My son Robert was diagnosed with Lymphoma on 4-20-2007 at age 13. We were immediately cast into a life of big hospitals, driving in the city (daily or weekly), blood work, chemotherapy, & long hospital stays. Just alot of unknown, scary stuff. Now it is almost three years later & Robert is doing well. All of those things are not what we remember. We remember the love & kindness we received thru it all. The Songs of Love Foundation gave Robert such a wonderful gift. He received a song about him that brought smiles and happiness to all that love him. The Songs of Love Foundation is a true symbol of goodness, giving & real love!

Our adopted daughter Evonne has limitations on her body imposed by cerebral palsy and several medical conditions. But nothing has been able to hold her incredible joyful spirit down! Her Song of Love captured that spirit, chronicled all that is important to her and her greatest loves in life. To see her laugh and try to sing along to her special song - her story really - well there is no way to put a price on that. There just isn't.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...
How they are able to capture the essence of children they have never, and will never meet. That they care so much.
If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
Bring joy to so many families struggling with life threatening diseases in their children. It's not a cure for anything, but it's a few minutes of relief from the pain, a few minutes to be happy and sing!

My Grandson, Zak is 6 and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at 9 months old. We put his song into a slide show of family pics. He loves the song and I love Songs of Love. It brightens the life of these precious gifts from God. Zak cannot run and play, but he can play video games and is learning tread. I did send a copy of his movie to Songs of Love. I hope they share it with you all. Thank you Melanie for sharing this wonderful org. with me. God Bless All!

My son Shane was diagnosed with a PNET brain tumor, at age 7, in Feb 2006. We spent alot of time in and out of the hospital. In the fall of 2006, Shane received his Songs of Love CD. The smile on his face when he listened to his song is absolutely unforgettable! He loved that CD so very much! He took it to school and all his classmates loved it too. After listening to it a few times, the teacher finally said it was time to get back to schoolwork. But she said that all day the kids kept singing Shane's song. Shane lost his battle in April 2007 after 14 months of bravely fighting his cancer. If every child is as happy as my Shane was when listening to his song, then I hope this charity NEVER ends! I know I will support it the best I can. I still listen to Shane's CD, since it always reminds me of the way he would sing and dance to his song...

Songs of Love is a unique and valuable service providing the medicine of music for children, their families and communities. The organization's staff amazes me with their commitment to provide this free for these challenged kids and i am honored to be involved. The other testimonies posted here describe better than I could what it's worth to the families and why any support you can provide to Songs of Love is well worthwhile.
