Solutions for Change is exactly what it's name says; I have been a supporter of this organization for years and firmly believe their model for helping families is the best solution for positive change; for the families and for our community.

This IS the best program to get homeless families off the street to becoming productive citizens of the community. Solutions for Change's residents earn pride and self-esteem because they do it for themselves. Parents and children are given the tools (physical, pycho, social, bio, and spiritually), to be successful as they navigate the path to self-sufficiency. Program residents are given guidance and a hand up through education, modeling, and work!

Many other programs are just a "hand out" programs...leaving its recipients never satisfied because they never get out of their situational "pit." Solutions for Change gives people hope, vision, and self-worth through a model that has been proven to work - not just for their residents but also the community!

Solutions for Change is a program seen to work over and over again. How many homeless programs actually give back to the community - or better yet, make the community BETTER? Solutions gets everyone involved - from ordinary citizens as well as the community and social/political/governmental minded groups because they see the positive results.

Vista and the surrounding communities have gotten behind this program because it helps everyone! It gets families off the street...gets parents working and providing for their families...kids are off the street and in school...and they educate them in "life skills." It even gives the community a sense of ownership in their success - the ability to help those less fortunate. Our schools get something too (besides successful students) - fresh food to serve and eat.

What other programs or models boasts of all that?

I'll tell you - none!

I am behind this program 110% because it works! The evidence is clear and visible to me, the residents, and the community at large!

Check it out - you'll see the difference!

SFC isn't like anyone/anything else. They are unique...because it works! Through tough love, life education lessons, a lot of elbow grease, and God's grace all those who work at SFC, those going through the program, those that have graduated from the program, and all those (like me) who have had the privilege to be a part of this process have proven that it can be done! Chris and his wife's life passion is infectious and the whole community has joined in on their vision--to solve family homelessness, permanently!

This organization does more than offer band-aids. To willing parents, they offer a new lease on life. They turn things around. I have been following their actions for several years and I see nothing but real quality. I have toured their farm, and met their staff. If you want more "bang for your buck", you can't go wrong supporting this organization.

SFC is a five star organization. They work 'with the end in mind' serving homeless families with respect, shelter, training and a future. Every aspect of the organization is lead by knowledgeable, caring people with a vision to make homelessness a thing of the past...one family at a time. Their success stories are proof of a 'job well done'.

To see the impact of an organization that started with a promise to an innocent child is beyond inspiring. When giving, it's always great to know your contribution is going to an organization that is effective. Their incredible rate of success of 93% for those who graduate the program is the reason they've become a national model. I feel so lucky to have become aware of SFC!

My first contact with Solutions for Change was in 2005, when they were still a small non-profit starting to make a difference in Vista. Founder Chris Megison became a student of Good to Great, and Solutions has followed. They are making a huge impact in North County, and are actually solving family homelessness for hundreds of families. Their figures show a 66% success rate for their 1000-day Solutions University program. How many non-profits will actually see their clients through a 2 1/2 year program successfully?! Graduates leave the program able to "get up, suit up, and show up!"
Their focus on Servant Leadership has infused the entire staff and many of the residents, and it's creating a great culture. Many churches and civic groups volunteer 1-2 days per month, and get to know/serve and cheer on the residents. Their gala events each October have developed some tremendous donations and corporate partners. Instead of coming "hat in hand" begging for donations, they are skillfully showing how giving will truly "impact" our community. Their giving campaign in 2009-2012 allowed them to acquire property at low cost, and the partnership with local cities is creating mutually beneficial solutions for cities and their low-income residents.
Solutions for Change is one of the best-run, most impactful charities I've been around.
