Soldier's Angels is one of the best nonprofits out there. They focus on support and caring for all deployed military and their families. I am on a special team with Soldier's Angels called Ladies of Liberty. As a woman this is very empowering to me to be able to lift up these women who are braving conditions and activities that some men wouldn't be able to handle. This nonprofit is very important for all of the female soldiers out there in making sure they are taken care of and supported.

I became involved with Soldiers Angels in 2006/2007 because my husband had been deployed to Iraq and was adopted by a Soldiers Angel. He told me how amazing his angel was at sending him carepackages and letters which he shared with his soldiers. He told me that it made a world of difference in the morale of his soldiers to know that a stranger cared enough to recognize their sacrifices. I have since adopted about 6-8 soldiers myself to help carry on that tradition as a way of saying "Thank You" to Soldiers Angels for the care they bestowed upon my husband and to all our men and women in uniform as well as their families. It's such an amazing program that I am honored to be a part of!

back when the war started i got an eamil from a lady name Patti she had 3 pages of names of hero's out in the war zone they all needed some tlc. that is when Patti got going she got everyone she knew to start sending tlc boxes , letters to the troops. From there it became a 501c. i do think there is more than 200,000 angles out there helping give tlc to our heros. my self i like to help any one they send me but my heart is with the k-9 units. this way i send to 2 at the same time our k-9 units needs so much. they need goodies for the dogs and them selfs. they need people to understand that they are both working to keep this world safe. You have to remember the dogs need special stuff , like a cooling vest, doggles, bones, tennis balls you name it is what they need. but most of all they need a person who cares.. God bless our troops , God bless our k-9's and Soldiers Angels. THANK YOU SOLDIERS ANGLES FOR LETTING ME HELP THE TROOPS.....

I was scanning websites one day and came upon the Soldiers Angels I looked over the page and decided to adopt a soldier. I myself am a vet and thought it would be a great way to give back. I know how it is when you get a letter in the mail when you are away from your loved ones. It is a very rewarding organization. It is so easy to order off their site and send a care package. I also am the owner of a pink Soldier's Angel shirt, in which I wear it proudly. God Bless the Service Men and Women that dedicate their lives for our Freedom. I recommend this organization for everyone that wants to get involved.

I was introduced to Soldiers Angels in 2006 because a stand was set up for Military Support. I went home and researched the website, and found that the organization truly took care of our Troops, families, and Veterans alike. I joined immediately, and adopted a soldier. I wrote letters, and sent packages, and now have a forever friendship with this soldier. I have since adopted more soldiers, and it is so rewarding to know that a little time and donation, can make their experience over there a little easier to bare. I was so happy that I found a way to give back to them, when they so freely serve for all of us. Little did I know, that both my sister and my brother-in-law were both to be deployed in 2007 to Iraq and Afghanistan. It never meant more to me then it did at that time, to know that my loved ones had extra care from this amazing organization. Soldiers Angels has provided so many ways for volunteers to be in action, and feel needed. Soldiers Angels have allowed volunteers to network in our local communities, to help our local VA Hospitals and Wounded heroes. Here in Pennsylvania, a group of volunteers have come together to support Soldiers Angels efforts. We go to airports and welcome home soldiers right out of the gate, we also send them off with honor and pride, and unfortunately, we have also shown support with Flag lines at funerals or memorials of our Killed in Action. Soldiers Angels has provided every person a means to incorporate themselves into the organization and use their own resources to support our Military. Teams within the organization that anyone may join include, Card and Letter writing, Sewing for blankets, animal lovers for Deployed K9 units, Baby showers for Mom's while their husbands are deployed, Valour-IT, a laptop program, to provide soldiers with technology to connect with home, and the list goes on and on. Soldiers Angels have even provided a store on their website, so we volunteers can purchase items for ourselves, and for our Veterans. I recently became apart of the Soldiers Angels Day of the Deployed Team. This is a proclaimed day to recognize all Soldiers, past present and future, that have been deployed overseas. What an honor to be apart of something so special, but so deserving to our brave men and women, serving our country. Overall, I suggest this Non-Profit organization to anyone in the world. I am proud to be a member of Soldiers Angels Foundation.

Soldiers Angels and its Founder, Patti Patton-Bader, communicated with me personally. Emails have always been answered, and cooperation from corporate has been phenomenal. I feel I have a purpose as a volunteer, and this organization provided it for me.

I have met volunteers all over the country, as Soldiers Angels Foundation has made it incredibly easy to connect with each other through, blogging, twitter, facebook, and email. The staff are amazing and provide so much support to us as volunteers.

I was already a member of another non-profit organization that hosts a Bestowal service for our Military. I think its the best part of being a member. But always felt there was more I could do for our active military. Then I found Soldiers' Angels.. I immediately adopted a Soldier, I hope I brought him as much joy in his stay in Iraq as he gave me here in the States. I never expected to hear from him, and in January he emailed me. WOW.. I felt like he was my son, and I wanted to do all I could to take care of him, while he protected me from danger. In his Christmas care pkg, I wrapped every single item in wrapping paper so he would have Christmas presents. The day after I was notified he was returning home I adopted another one. This time its a girl!! We have emailed back and forth, and I have sent my first care pkg, I hope she enjoys it as much as I enjoyed doing it for her.. I will continue adopting a Soldier til they ALL come home... I feel like I found what I was looking for to show support for our military. If I can bring a smile to them for just one moment while they are away, if I can show them we at home CARE about them, then I am happy.

One day I was looking through a local paper and came across a story of a woman who belonged to Soldier's Angels. I had always thought about what could I do to help out. You always want to think about "great things" that should be done to help our troops. But in reality it's the little things done by many people that makes the Biggest difference. So I started out by adopting a soldier then went on to becoming a Community team leader. In the summertime my husband and myself go out to all different events and sell items and take donations and get all kinds of things to send packages to deployed soldiers. We also, are a Major part of the River Jam Music Festival in August. This will be our thidr year. Last year when the traveling Wall from Viet Nam was here in Hawley, we met and gave flags to the VN Vets. That was so powerful. So be a part of something. It is so worth your while. I did and I am so happy I did.

Send packages to all who are requesting them. Could do a lot for the wounded and their families. Could also help the troops when they return home and have to adjust to everyday life after the terrible things they have witnessed.

My sister had joined and she told me she adopted a soldier. I was overjoyed at the fact that there was something that we could do for our military!!!!! I went to the site and adopted. I get a package out at least once a week filled with all kinds of goodies. It's quick and oh so easy!!!! It is the least we can do for the people that are keeping us safe!!!! THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE!!!

The Ladies of Liberty team of Soldiers' Angels focuses on the needs of deployed female servicemembers. We understand that females are instrumental in the current war (as in the past), and make special efforts to support them in their missions while showcasing our appreciation for their service. We assist with supplies for their unique health and hygiene needs, and help them experience a few pampering moments to rejuvenate and "be good to themselves." Ladies of Liberty is a group of teams composed of 50- 60 members with a team leader and assistant who all work together to support 50-60 different female soldiers per team. The program originated in a University of North Dakota Women's Studies class taught by Shelle Michaels in the 2006 summer session. The students originally adopted 24 females from the North Dakota Army National Guard (1-188th ADA JLENS and SECFOR). Almost two million women in America's history have been veterans--from the American Revolution to Panama, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq, women have served in some way in every American conflict. Thirty-three thousand women served in WWI, and almost 500,000 took part in WWII. During the Korean era, 120,000 women were in uniform, and 7,000 were deployed in-theater during Vietnam. In Desert Storm, seven percent of the total U.S. forces deployed were women - over 40,000 personnel. In terms of the scope of women serving our country, Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom are no different than past conflicts. Today's heroic deployed women--whose patriotism, courage and perseverance are shaping the nation on a daily basis--are in the same tradition of strength as those who served previously in this special sisterhood.

I have seen this team grow from 12 students supporting 24 deployed woman to currently, serving nearly 3000 deployed women through the work of 1000 volunteers.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...
purchase a ranch for a PTS outreach --- it could support our troops for a year--- it could fund more jobs for veterans... it could and would make a difference.
Ways to make it better...
--- Soldiers' Angels is amazing--- the experience of being an Angel is like no other experience. I wish we were not at war and could support the veterans now, but until then, standing Angel proud is what we will all do.
In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...
Funding. The needs of the troops, veterans and their families never goes away, but grows. Yet, people are giving less, companies are giving less, grants are more competitive-- and our troops still need.
One thing I'd also say is that...
I am proud to be an American, proud to be an Angel and proud of our troops.

I just recently joined Soldiers' Angels (SA) a few days ago and decided to join the Cards Plus Team. I went to the store and bought a few cards right away, wrote them out and sent them off. It didn't take me long at all to accomplish this task. :) I was concerned that perhaps I wouldn't have the time to devote to actually adopting a soldier. However, after seeing the numbers of soldiers that want to be adopted growing each day on the SA website, I knew that I couldn't turn away from adopting a soldier and making sure he or she felt the appreciation and support of those of us here at home. It is important to realize that SA is not a political organization....politics aren't discussed. The focus of the organization is having compassion for our deployed service members (and vets) who face great challenges on a daily basis and offering them some much needed support. Essentially, you are serving those that serve. :) I adopted my first soldier a couple of days ago from the SA website and it literally took all of a minute. I love the feeling that you can go to the website and seconds later be involved in doing something positive in the life of a military member who is living and working under oftentimes very challenging circumstances (to say the least). Also, SA has great resources and suggestions for care packages you can send off to your adopted soldier. You can even send off care packages directly from their website at reasonable prices. Plus, your money goes towards the wonderful efforts of SA, which is a plus. SA has resources and links to various companies that provide free shipping to APO/FPO (i.e. overseas military) addresses. Yesterday, I linked up to a terrific brownie company from the SA website and sent a package of brownies to my adopted soldier within a few minutes. I've also written and sent over my first letter to this individual...it didn't take that much time to write....plus I had a great time writing the letter. I haven't been involved with this organization for very long, however, I would highly recommend them based on my brief experience. Most individuals looking to complete volunteer service want to see or feel a direct benefit of their time spent or money given. If you're in search of that type of experience (which you probably are), I would highly recommend that you check out Soldiers' Angels.
