I have been an occassional volunteer with SoldierCare Project at St. Michaels. I have attended several of the weekends and other programs SC has arranged for wounded military personnel. I have seen over the course of this experience how important a healing tool this group is providing a safe, peer-rich environment for healing. I have seen several of the guys in the program improve greatly in their psychological, social and medical needs and can see how important SoldierCare at Saint Michaels has been to this progress. Just wish the program could include more soldiers.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

give alot more wounded American soldiers and Marines the benefit of the SoldierCare program and its great results dealing with guys with PTS and Traumatic Brain injury.

My son was wounded in Iraq in 2004, and SoldierCare and David Rosenberg stepped up to the plate IMMEDIATELY to help. David met my son in 2005, and has been a constant source of support in every way possible since that time. I cannot say enough about the group of individuals who have come forward to serve our heroes with their fundraising, their time, their efforts to do ANYTHING they can to give back to those who protect our freedom.

SoldierCare has been a saving grace for our family time and time again. When my brother returned from Iraq and spent so many months in hospital care, we bagan to face the realities of what it would take to return to civilian life. SoldierCare stepped in and helped us with our financial issues, which are numerous. Their fundraising efforts are unbelievable. They created opportunities to honor our vets AND their families, to give us a smile and forget our problems, even if just for a day. They have given emotional support 24 hours a day, and continue to do so. I can't say thank you enough to SoldierCare for the support they have given and continue to give to my brother, and to us as his family, and cannot tell everyone enough that this is an amazing organization to support.

I think that the work that David does with the soldiers is amazing and it's shamefull that more isn't done by our socioty as a whole. These men and women are true givers of life and limb. To protect their country and loved ones. It goes beyond all that we would call rational and trandscends into a holy sacrifice what these people have done for us. David brings them and we all have auctions for their benefit trying to raise a little money and a little conciousness on their behalf. Even one time one of the men had come from Pendleton and brought his dog with him and at the Church the dog was getting a little restless. So we actually left and went to the dog park close by. I could see the dog and his master physically relax after that and it was a beautiful time to talk and let him know that the people really do love them and appreciate them.

The Great!

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

having my son and I be able to help these vets and show them that we all care.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

very loving.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

they could start a foundation with a business to make more money so that they could make a place for these disabled vets to work and heal and feel that they still had a very productive life caring for eachother and the homeless.

Ways to make it better...

we could have givin more.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

not getting the word out there and not having enough money sometimes.

One thing I'd also say is that...

everyone wants to help and care and share.

Working directly with the soldiers at Soldier Care has been an amazing experience. I see their eyes light up as they tell me all they are going to do while they are in Hollywood, who they had the chance to meet and how grateful they are that they were given this opportunity. These soldiers deserve to be treated like royalty and for a few days they are. I know first hand that these guys love this group, they love that people in Hollywood take time to show our appreciation for the service they have done. It is a uplifting time for them and for us.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

change the lives of the soldiers who made our lives possible to lead. The soldiers would be given more aid, help with health care costs such as prosthetic devices that aren't covered, moral support, and treated like the stars they are.

SoldierCare is an amazing team of people who manage to give meaningful support to wounded vets and their families. No drum beating, just a wonderful partnership with those they serve. What impressed me the most was the individualized attention and not a broad brushed all vets need X. And they do it creating life long relationships and bonds to see these people through.

The SoldierCare Project is an amazing outreach to wounded soldiers - without any politics. I was fortunate enough to be part of the outreach effort twice a year. The people who run the effort really listen and care about the wounded guys in a real way - not just "hey you're a hero" but really standing by them through good times and bad.

I am a member of St. Michaels church in Studio City, CA. We have hosted an annual party to honor the vets with gifts and a lunch and a whole weekend of fun. I have been their chauffeur, their cook, their host for cocktails at a Dodgers Game, i have donated gifts and money. they are great and give us all such inspiration.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

the same guys come back every year and it is nice to see how they are doing.

I knew how to speak military talk. I sometimes feel like I can't relate to their experiences in war/combat/military. I wish they would speak more about it.

In my opinion, the biggest challenges facing this organization are...

Keeping the guys doing things that interests them but allows them to be with other vets from all over at the same time.

Dillon Cannon was so blessed by the Soldier Care Progect. He was shot in the neck/spine and is a quadroplegic. They had provided him with emotional support as well as ocupational support. I know he considers them as family and I and I know Dillons family consideres Soldier Care as Dillion's Angels.
