Jack Downing...
This man who holds the reigns of the second largest Veterans advocacy program in Massachusetts is unfortunately a true piece of garbage. It would benefit the Veterans being served by United Veterans of America (DBA: Soldier On) if the board of directors would force Mr. Downing to step down as CEO and appoint perhaps Mike Monti, Mike McMahon, John Crane would be a most excellent choice of CEO of this corporation; any one of them would certainly perform a much higher quality of services to the Veterans served by Soldier On.
Jack Downing is the purveyor of deception when it comes to standing in front of the 5th estate and making claims of righteousness. He simply does not, nor have any intention of following through on many of his claims to better improve the lives of Veterans served by Soldier On. He will make claims to clothe, house, support, and overall better the lives of all his charges no matter their mental, physical health, no matter their personality, character, or integrity based on his many stated sales pitch that every Veteran deserves to be treated with dignity because when they signed up to serve our great country they agreed to give up their very lives should it come to that in their service, and for that very reason they (the Veteran) deserves to be supported.
Unfortunately he does not practice what he preaches. He treats those he finds contemptible (for whatever reason) with exactly that; contempt, and he will express that contempt by ejecting these Veterans from his program with absolutely zero remorse. There was a resident by the name of David I once spoke to while I too was a resident of Soldier On who made the claim that Jack Downing once assaulted him both physically and verbally in front of many residents outside of the main administrative offices of Soldier On located in building 6 within the Northampton VA Medical Center. Jack Downing made such a spectacle of himself that the VA police were called and had to intervene. The situation was so violent that the VA police asked David if he wanted to press charges against this supposed icon of integrity when it came to advocating for Veterans. To many persons dismay David opted not to press charges and Jack Downing was allowed to go on unchecked with his abuse of those Veterans he finds contemptible to this day. At the time of this writing David is currently a resident of the Gordon Mansfield apartments which is owned and operated by Soldier On, and therefore Jack Downing.
Whenever Jack promotes his flagship corporation (Soldier On) he always pays particular attention to the Gordon Mansfield apartments, which is to my understanding a limited equity something or other where Veterans own up to something like $2,500.00 of their apartment but cannot have overnight guests, get married and live there with their spouse, etc.
I too had been a victim of Jack Downing's contempt on 2 occasions. The first time I was ejected from Soldier On (Pittsfield location) when I filed a grievance concerning the meal ticket policy and its "unwritten rule." See the particulars by following this link: http://jackdowningofsoldieron.blogspot.com/
(Copy and paste in your browser). The second time I was ejected was due to an extender I was permitted to have in the case manager director’s office so I could connect to the soldier on guest network. This too you will find if you follow the same link.
So, if you would take the time to read my blog and post a comment as well as forward the blog to your friends and family, and the friends of you friends' families to help me get the word out that Jack Downing is not the person who should be holding the reigns of Soldier On.
I need to inform you reader that there are many employees of Soldier On who are good people who truly want to help the Veterans they serve live a higher quality of life. All but 2. One is Jack Downing. Two would be Sandra Lussier. Both of these should be removed with any and all aspects concerning the operation of Soldier On and any of its entities. Doing so would allow Soldier On to know no bounds of actually doing what Soldier On claims its purpose is: Helping Veterans live a higher quality of life.

Fellows from Soldier On in Pittsfield have helped the volunteers at the Berkshire Athenauem who put on book sales 3 times a year. We've asked the guys to help with set up, clean up and to help during the sale to carry books to cars. It really helps us to sell more books when they help us. So far, the fellows have been wonderful and very willing to do whatever has been asked. Thank you. Nancy, booksale chair
